Prices Keep Drifting Up

If its a 6 speed manual its north of $30k all day long. Bidders on BaT love low mileage. Here's a recent 2003 cab with 30k miles that sold for $31,500 after fees.

And look at this one with 85k miles:

The color on that second care is fantastic. Also never thought I would see a cab crack 30k.

Not denying the truth of your statement, but at 58 I came back to the 996 my favorite 911. Before doing so I test drove the 992 and thought that Porsche did for sports cars what auto tune and pro tools did for music (that may be going too far but it's at least partly true). Ended up buying three cars instead of the 992 over a six seek period, a 2005 NSX, 2009 S2000, and a 1999 996. All different and don't love one over the other. Their like my kids. Fun factor cubed. Had a new 997 back in the day. Too many buttons, prefer the 996.

I went to the dealer yesterday to order a part and I saw a lot of beautiful 992s and a 918 in the lobby, and various other models like a 997 Turbo and 991 C4S either in the service lot or used car lot. At no point did I think I wanted one of them over my 996.1. They are awesome cars, and I'm sure a blast to drive, but I like my old classic... and that's coming from me being a former 997.2 C4S owner and knowing what the improvements were.

I am both sad and incredibly grateful. I sold my first, but certainly not my last, 911 this afternoon.

I was following as I have a somewhat similar car. It’s nice to see higher miles don’t get penalised.

I have a co-worker who owns a 2004 996 tt with the X50 package, 6MT, and only 24K miles. He just got it out and running post winter for the 1st time this year. I asked if he'd been following 996 prices over the past 3-6 months and he said no. I then forwarded him some recent 996tt and 996 4s sales and he almost fainted. A car he would have happily sold last fall for $50k will probably now fetch closer to $70k.

Nexus, couldn't agree more.
Electric is a "next" step in the process of hybrids for all. Until some genius can figure out how to build a battery to store energy, it becomes an exciting fad. The only hope with today's battery technology is to "replenish" the battery with new energy from a hybrid solution. Who would want their daughter to drive an electric car from Chicago to Florida as an example. Not a lot of electric charging stations along the way.
The above statements don't take into consideration mining/geopolitical issues that are brewing for the elements needed to make the current form of batteries. Batteries need natural elements. Natural elements for batteries come from the earth, of which most come from African mines which are controlled by various superpowers that are not the USA. You get the context. It's now a geopolitical negotiation.
Porsche has one of the greatest marketing operations in the world. What they are doing is going directly at Tesla to establish their "electric" motor dominance, while quietly building biofuel capabilities and petitioning F1 and other motorsport bodies to embrace biofuel requirements. Once they get it, and they will, they will come out and say that they not only have the world's premier electric motor capabilities, but the world's premier hybrid biofuel capabilities and give everyone a choice of whether they want their Taycan with a gas powered engine, hybrid engine or electric. What petrol head in their right mind wants an electric engine?
Lastly, porsche entered E F1 racing and exited it after a few short years. Asked why they said that they learned all they could. Very telling.

As an economics and government teacher, the geopolitical situation with the mining has me going nuts. It’s a terrible situation all around and will not
end well. I think OPEC but sadly, much less stable..
