Yes, check for leaks, noises, if all ok then check fuel trims.
Checking crankcase vacuum with UAOS, and also blow-by will be easy for you since you have already done that..
The snorkel fit is very floppy on most cars and can have adequate clearance or not. The air cleaner is a three point mount and the snorkel can be very effected by the left rubber mount. a small adjustment to the rubber thickness mount will make a big difference in snorkel to Accumulator clearance..If the left rubber mount is missing or flattened out from time of use the snorkel will be touching the Accumulator.
I have noticed many Rennlisters have a lot of trouble finding vacuum leaks on the M96 engines, even with a smoke tester. I think I will develop a method of testing engine for leaks using Freon and a Freon leak detector. Even the low end Freon leak testers will detect leaks as small as .4 grams per year, and the audible alerts and long bendable sensor probe can get to all places on the engine..
Alright, thanks for the information.
My airbox rubber grommets are actually new. I replaced them last year, and the airbox fit is fairly firm; but I'll mess and see what I can do.
I am a little paranoid about having a vacuum leak. I had so much taken apart, and although I was as diligent as I could putting it back together, I've never looked for a vacuum leak before, so if I have one it will be an adventure to say the least.
That looks like the residue you get from the moisture collecting in the oil sump. Was there anything in the oil fill tube or was that completely clean? Doesn't look like anything serious either way.
I Have sourced the correct parts for UAOS coolant by-pass. Installing this along with UAOS will even further the reliability of the 996 by eliminating more failure points.. This is available as a kit from the website .............. ( www.ultimateaos.com) and will be included on all UAOS kits for 996 after 4/11/2021
skip has explained the factory componants and what each items in his modification does in depth, in this and other uaos threads. I gave i an explaination of the factory system a few posts above. Post 233
this mod does not change how the factory system works, it just adds a resivior, sensor and moves the diaphram to an easy to replace location. The new diaphram is a bmw part and much cheaper then the entire porsche aos. As i said before the diaphram is what fails 90% of the time.
Choose to install or not... it really doesnt make a difference to me but if u do your research u will see this as a wise mod.
Followed your advice. Mine arrived today. Now just waiting for my lift to be installed to install via engine drop.
So drilled holes in the extra cap I have and tapped it for a fitting. So this is what I got after running it up to temp.
The -5.5inh20 shows your AOS diaphragm is not failed at this moment, but the consensus by the people/shops who really know the failure rate of the AOS suggest it should be changed every 3 years, unless you have the UAOS, then it is NEVER.
IF you plan keeping the car it will save a lot of money/labor in the long run, plus is much safer/Advanced Technology.in the interim..

You had me sold some time ago. I wanted to throw a number out there to see where I was currently. I need to have a look at the ims and rms too. With the tiptronic, it’s likely an engine drop so it makes absolutely no sense not to install your product at the same time.
