Had a chance to put some more miles on Speedy today. It used to be so easy. Now, instead of going to work each day, I get to visit my chiropractor about five times a month. Hit close to 360 miles on the engine today. I figure once I hit 134k, I'll drain out the break-in oil. That will put me at about 660 miles total.

Painted the front wheels for the winter tires, yesterday. They'll need the better part of a week to fully cure. I'll bet placing them in the sun, in our upcoming 90 degree days, might assist in that process.

For those that have been hanging on the edge - wondering if the tractor got fixed...

I'm pleased to report all went well. It handles like a Porsche now...

Decided to install the tag for the IMS Solution. Just to register the unit, I have filled in the card. I'm not concerned with the warranty. It's really about letting LN know where this unit landed. If this engine fails, it won't be due the the IMSS. That's not even a consideration. I expect this car to out live me. If it doesn't, the engine will live on in another one. I put the barcode tag in the door jam.

Put the serial number tag over the retrofit sticker.

Still nice, but it just keeps getting dirtier. And won't get any better...

I think you meant 134K.
334K is going to be WAY past 600 miles.

Do u think u r gonna swap out the low temp t-stat? I know the dash guage isnt that accurate but im seeing no improvement and it might even be a little worse then the factory t-stat. The needle sits at the right side if the 0 and yes i have confirmed the fans are running correctly. i also have cfs rads. Im not sure it the ln low temp is a different design? I may just go back to factory 180. Your thoughs?

Your observations are the same as mine. I am not seeing an improvement at the gauge, nor with the Durametric. I expect I'll go with the low-temp thermostat offered by LN. I think it will be best to have it on-hand when I remove the Wahler unit. After which, I will test it and try to duplicate the measurements that Nick performed in the thread he referenced.

Hmm..there was a recent thread on someone who got an aftermarket Wahler brand low temp thermostat and ran into higher than normal temps. He removed the Wahler LT stat and tested it and found it to be way off and did not close or open properly. Only get the certified tested LT thermosats from LN Engineering, or Porsche regular thermostat. They really do have higher quality control standards. yea that prompted me to ask the question. In addition to the temp issue i am having a random low coolant light that usually turns on when the car gets to temperature. Im thinking mine has an issue opening. I did fill it with an airlift and put the correct amount of coolant in. When the coolant is cool enough to open the cap its always full and the light is off. It could just be the sensor but its easier to swap the t-stat then the sensor.

I think the consensus is the wahler unit is junk

I am having the same issue with the wahler 160 thermostat, I have OBD digital read outs on the 02 "son" and my 04, before doing the water pump both cars shared the same number on weekend rides, I did the Wahler thermostat and water pump on the 04 in April and having issues with the temps, not over heating but running a good 10 degree hotter than before, I did the waterpump last month and this time I used L&N 160 thermostat on the 02 car, car temps are great, I suspect the Wahler is not opening clearly all the way, been trying to get an answer from Warehouse 33 for last 3 weeks and no answer.

PS just tried calling again, same message, leave E mail

I'm getting ready to order the low-temp thermostat from LN and figured I should order the next batch of oil at the same time. I just looked at the offerings and didn't see what I think I want next. Isn't there an intermediate oil between the initial break-in oil and a full synthetic? Maybe I just skipped over it.

Any leads on deals from LN? I know they offer discounts on occasion. The fact that I'm doing so little driving right now, allows me a little time before actually needing to place an order.

DT40 is full synthetic. Not what is recommended for the intermediate fill.

That looks right. Thanks, Yaz.
