Take care, buddy.
No problems where we are. One horse field resembles a small lake, but other than that, no big deal.

Put the rear bumper on yesterday and started cleaning the wheels. Hope to go for a drive in the next couple of days. I have enough other projects to keep me busy for a while. Our diesel tractor needs work (won't start). And my wife's seatbelt (V70 R) latch won't latch. And I'm way behind on the garden activities due to all of the rain. Good thing I don't have to travel to and from work...

A job best performed with two.

Engine lid getting some of the dirt washed away.

Bumper, wheels and engine cover on. Ready to go for a drive soon. Will try to monitor vitals as best I can...

Not much has happened with Speedy. My son came over on Friday and we drained the fuel out of our diesel tractor. I was able to fix Roddy (tractor). I needed to fix the diesel tractor, then get it out of the way, so I can fix the gas-engine tractor (*****). I think we should have the Green Acres theme song on my playlist...

I ran Speedy for a while on Friday. That hose clamp adjustment didn't fix the leak! The first drive is off until that gets fixed.
I ordered a replacement hose. URO to the rescue; from Amazon. I wanted it fast; and this was the quickest I could get. Arrived today.

Fixed our leaking hot tub yesterday. Got to sit in it tonight. It's been a productive weekend. Even with the summer heat we've had to deal with. Mid to upper 80s is a bit out of season for us, right now.

Alright. First drive has taken place. I finally had time, between rebuilding the carburetor on our gas-engine tractor, and mowing the track, and trying to stay ahead of the vegetation explosion around here.

New hose. No leaks. Just the way it ought to be.

Found the coolant drain plug gasket I ordered more than a year ago and installed it. Had to use the airlift to fill the cooling system again. What a gem.

Went for a few laps around the track to warm things up and make sure I wasn't losing any fluids. Looks like about 8 laps worth. I kind of lost track...
Then it was off for the first fill-up.

A full tank of gas and 7.8 miles later.

Looks a lot better outside.

Looks as though I may have collected a few weeds. I cleaned out the left front while at the gas station.

Off to a good start! Be sure to report back after those critical first 100 miles.

Woo Hoo, congrats!!

I did a BevMo run today and as an afterthought, I added a bottle of champagne to the order. I may have to crack it in your honor.

(BTW, the frunk can fit three and half cases of beer with room left over for plenty of other stuff)

Is your coolant temp high or is that where it normally rests? My '03 4S usually rests just a hair past 180. Perhaps it's due to the new engine being a little tight or you lapping around the track?

I don't think it's that hot. Not having a whole lot of miles on it since the rebuild, I can't say if that's where it normally rests. Were it above the next mark (215F?), I would be concerned.

Seems normal to me - right near the boiling point of water....

Quick bit of advice - I noticed some left over drips/material near that leaking elbow hose. Suggest you clean it off - so that you can easily spot future leaks there, and not wonder if the white material is new or old.

If it doesn't get rubbed off by the weeds passing under it, I will do so next time it's on the lift.

That's where my gauge sits too. It doesn't seem to vary much either although we don't get a lot of temperature extremes here one way or the other.

Thanks, Bill. All in good time. I've got a lot of other things to care for around here. I need to break the engine in properly and fix a few little things. The RF outer CV boot needs replacement. The rear shocks should be replaced soon (RR shock body is wet). I think the trans mount and engine mounts should be checked to be sure they aren't pushed forward too much.

So while I'm checking and replacing things, I should be able to get a better idea what it will take to gain a little ride height. The current thought is that simple spacers can be placed at the top of each shock/ strut mount. If I can get an additional 1/2" of lift by doing this, I would be happy. Then there are the tires and wheels that should provide a further 1/4-1/2" lift. Then I will install the skid plate and let it rip...

Something like this:
