It's 'shopped. You can tell from the flat spots on the bottom of the tires and the "lift angle" of the dust storm. Not to mention the blue in the windshield matches nothing around...no way any pro attempts that kind of send without a downhill landing.

That would look better with some mud up the side of it.
The wheels and front bar never should be bright white on a true offroader.
Also I'm not a fan of the French yellow headlights.
But I DO like the shade of green.

Scott, the temperature scale in not linear between 180-250F (in your post #635). The midway line is more around 230F.

Finally had a real reason to go for a drive. Had to call my insurance agent to change my coverage from 'storage'. Dumped a full can of Seafoam in the gas tank and hooked up my electronic junk (GPS and MP3 player). Hit the road and kept shifts around 3000 rpm for the first six miles, or so. After that, it was up and down through the rev-band with a lot of charges followed by engine braking. Probably exceeded 90 mph only five times...

Piled on close to 40 miles. Even stopped at a friend's house to prove that Speedy's really alive. I was thinking of photographing their "Rennlist" address plate, but decided against it.



Did a quick test with the man-o-meter. Didn't bother to investigate how to zero the meter. The delta was real close to -5.0 inH2O.



Not that I had any doubts about the integrity of the UAOS...

Did some work on my winter wheels a couple of days ago. Maybe I can have them ready to go by the time the engine is close to getting a little workout on the track.
These are the rear wheels.



I'll give them about a week to cure and then mount the tires. I should be able to get going on painting the fronts before then...

Put a few more miles on today. A little over 22. I made the mistake of shopping first. Decided to head home before the ice cream melted...

One thing I have noted is a howling/ whistling sound frequently in the area of the fuel fill. There must be a pump in that area related to fuel vapors. It's quite annoying. Would like to learn more about this. Anyone with insight into this? Doc?

Is your wiper cowl secure? My mounting points at the ends have failed and have now bowed upward.

I assume you are trying to equate the sound I reference with the cowl. The cowl is secure. And the noise is noted while parked (engine running). I can sometimes hear it when driving. I usually just turn up the music or run the engine up to 6000 rpm...

In my experience this can be caused by one of the vent / regeneration valves being bad in the evaporative emissions system, as you suspected. One of the valves is behind the RF tire on top of the carbon canister.

The other is in the engine bay, its the valve the you can usually hear clicking rapidly in a hot engine.





The whistling will usually come before a CEL. I have also seen driveability / LTFT issues arise from the regen valve being faulty.

The Pelican article is spot on. Except they identify the sound as blowing across a coke bottle. It sounds much more like a beer bottle to me.

I had the exact same thing, it was the fuel filler cap seal which was broken. Easy to check.
