I am not looking forward to installing the pistons, pins and clips. That looks like an adventure.
A little inspiration:

A lot of nuances captured in the DVD and in this next shot. Was nice to know, in advance, what to look for. Will need to try and stay a few chapters ahead in my studies...
Hey Scott, I'll sell my Stomski Racing Circlip injecter for $60 shipped to you.
Makes it fun with no blood loss !

And what would I do with it? The engine is done and running.

That's a big loss for this community.

Following your rebuild has been very educational, entertaining and encouraging for me to do more of my mechanical work myself.

I will miss the posts about your space at home. Your tractor, the dog, wildlife, and garden. Oh yes, and the 996 content.

I thought you were disassembling pistons & rods to check rod bearings

Scott - small favor to ask .Would you mind measuring the rear shock od ? The question really is : will a 2 inch coilover sleeve fit and extend past the spring perch .I need to lower my rear by about 1 inch due to lighter engine swap .The stock shock dampening is fine and would like to use them with sleeves and new coil springs .
Really have enjoyed your posts and appreciate the amount of effort you put into them .

Tell us about the lighter engine.

You might have to modify the retaining clip that holds the perch. Another option might be to get a 2" spring that's one inch shorter than the stock spring. But then you would still need to workout the upper mount. Here's a shot of the shock OD.
