Got a part today. Also watched all of disc 5, from start to finish. Just about ready to head for the finish line...

Game on.

Got a package from Arizona Gary. Cut the rod in two pieces and disassembled the variocam, chain and cams.

Cleaned a few parts, including the variocam assembly in a bag of oil.

Getting ready for tomorrow. Since I am working from home, right now, I have an additional one and a half hours to work on my stuff. Things should fall together nicely over the next couple of days.

Probably needs Driven break-in oil. I might have some left over after my build.

Speaking of which, I completed most of the bank #1 cam install today.

Put a bag over it so dirt would be less likely to find the grease. I ran out of steam before I could complete the cam cover installation.

It's clear bank #1 tensioner pads are newer than bank #2. This is consistent with the cam deviation numbers I saw before the engine needed to come apart.

Bank #2 cams ready for lube and installation into the head. Should be able to tackle that tomorrow. Might even be able to seal up the two cam covers, if I don't get worn out from a hard day of Webex meetings.

Thanks Bill. I wasn't in the groove today. Kind of pissy. Little things would irritate me, and constantly having oil and grease on my hands made it even worse. Had to stop before I did something extra stupid.

It's coming along. Just need to remain focused and take things slow. Have the next steps cued up on the DVD to duplicate what I did on bank #1 today, so I can do the same on bank #2 tomorrow.

This must be the wisdom that comes with age. When I was younger, I always hung in there until I did something extra, extra stupid. Now, not so much.

My kit was missing the Drei Bond. All the oil leaked out.

Installed the bank #2 cams.

Should be able to seal up at least one cam cover tomorrow. It will start with #2.

Preparing for cam cover on bank #2.

It's on.

Easy stuff.
