Does the Raby vidoe/instructions say to install the front console BEFORE putting bank 2 case half together? Are you sure bout that?

Porsche has a very trick high dollar tool that aligns the two case halves perfectly that uses the front IMS bore to align. I guess Raby does not use that, but seems I tried the procedure many many years ago install front console first to use as a guide/centering device, but seems I remember it pinching the o-rings...

"3 halves"? Really? That's an oxymoron if I've ever heard one... I'm pretty sure if you break something into 3 parts, they're called thirds...

Not if you're giving 150%

Quite sure. The logic is to reduce any risk of breaking off the plain bearing at the front of the IMS. Ask Yaz about this...

Care will be taken to avoid pinching the o-rings. I think there is less chance of that happening than cutting them during an insertion process. Should know for sure, later today.

The third half of Stage 8 is done. It went fairly well. My son came over to clear a fault code on his car. While he was here, I had him help a little. A second set of hands and eyes are always good.

I had everything ready to go and it all went quickly. Getting the sealant through its little hole was the worst part of the task. After everything was torqued to spec, I started looking at the next Stage.

I've been messing with the tools for quite a while. Now it's time to go for real.

Borescope was invaluable.

Here is #6 rod lined up with the piston.

Here's #6 piston pin clip not in its groove. A few bad words were spoken. I knew right away it hadn't gone in all the way. There was a gap at the handle of the insertion tool

Feelin' good Louis! I saw your trick with the bicycle spoke. I don't have a bike - at least not without an engine. But I do have a $1.99 pick set.

I verified the clips were magnetic before I inserted the first one today. Here is the clip on the magnet. Hard to tell, from the image. I got the clip out and got to live another day.

Here it is, in the groove!

Got #5 in with no problem. Well other than getting the end of the damn insertion tool lodged in between cylinder #4 and #5. Actually had to work it loose with a pair of channel locks. Then it needed to be hammered round again...
Just about to install the last piston (#4).

One hole left to fill.

#4 piston pin clip in place. Today I have become a man.

Thought I'd be ahead of you after today. Looks like you wrapped up cylinder #4 about a half hour before me. Nice work!

Congratulations to you. This is not a job for a nervous person.

Stage 11 had only one half and it was short and sweet.

Looks short and sweet. Much needed relief. Think I've got you on the sump plate cleanliness. No one sees the block anyway, right?
