@RennPart Ugh, sorry. How old was the water pump?
I knew better, had a new pump sitting in the office to put on but it was Sunday and I had been working all week and wanted to go for a ride.
shamless plug if you need a water pump I have a package deal with a low temp t-stat for a special price.

Sorry to see that, but it reminds me to replace mine. I replaced my original one at 60k miles and it was fine after 15 years. I now have 82k on the clock and another 8 years. I have a new water pump and low temp thermostat on hand and it seems like something to do soon.

I had an unusual UAOS failure this morning while hitting the twisties.
I was out for a morning Pre-Porsche get together meet up.
I noticed some smoke after the twisties and headed back home.
On the way home I got a “low coolant” warning.
This is what I found when I arrived:
A bunch of oil dripping down the engine.
The cause was a failure of the plastic boat plug used to drain the accumulator.
The thread remains, but there’s a hole in the middle:
I decided not to put a new plug in the accumulator, but instead to install the Extreme Track Auto Drain option I’ve had in my parts collection for over a year. Not how I had planned on spending my afternoon, but I’m thankful I had it on hand.

I had the same thing happen with my UAOS accumulator drain plug. Luckily I had another plug on hand from my original plastic UAOS accumulator that I had before upgrading to the aluminum version. Maybe Skip can chime in and recommend a more durable plug.

That said Hardin Marine makes a Stainless Steel version that is unbreakable, but is a bit heavy ...I was thinking on including these as a special Tribute for my late Sons birthday on Cinco De Mayo ( May 5th), what do Y'all think?
Like Tex is doing the Extreme Track Drain Option includes a Steel Banjo Bolt and is the best way to go, I dare anyone to break that !!!!

Pulled bumper for first time to clean radiators. They weren't too bad, but there was a fair amount of debris between thee two radiators. Glad I pulled them apart. Also ended up removing the front radar detector because it was wired to the bumper and had to cut it. And then pulled all the wires and junk from console and unhooked it from the fuse box (with battery disconnected). Only thing remaining is the rear detector because didn't want to remove the rear bumper.

Sent my heads off to Len Hoffman- only found 1 small piece of WP impeller, hoping to find more.
Will replace both Rad's to hopefully ensure no more pieces get cycled through and the same thing happens when I put it back together.

Smart to replace rads and flush the coolant. I'm going to do mine soon. Crossing my fingers that the cooling system doesn't let me down while I'm on a 3k mile road trip, and I'll do it when I get back. Fingers crossed. There's just not enough time to get the parts and the install done before I leave on Wed next week. I'm paranoid so I might call my Indy tomorrow and beg for a slot. He's closed Friday and Monday for Easter.. Tuesday he's mounting and balancing new tires for me. I went with Conti ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus. Just for the name EXTREME! 😳 Actually it was flip a coin between those and Michelin ps4AS. Went conti after a lot of research said they are slightly quieter. Both have excellent wet braking. My PS3+AS were just too old and noisy for 3k miles drive.

On track cars I install the CSF all aluminum units for added cooling.
If you can't find someone local to do the job give me a call and I can get you in. We are located in Winston Salem, NC.
