thanks for the post and pics Nate. I have been mulling over this same mod for a while
now and that brake light fit would drive me crazy! I don’t mind the wire harness hanging so much, but for the money spent on the ducktail, this would infuriate me. Hope you get it resolved with Getty eventually and post more pics.
Yeah, they’re just getting bombarded by emails and were slow to reply, but Mark from Getty did me right and sent out another light.
I ended up filing and trimming the hole and got the current light to fit…probably a B+ if I had to give the fit of it a grade. I superglued that end that broke off and now it just looks like a stress fracture or age crack when up really close. I clear RTVd the light in place on the inside of the spoiler where the light rests against an internal brace to take some stress off the clips and to keep it lined up as it could potentially shift from all the filing I did. Removing the light to replace it would probably break it, so I’ll just replace it if it breaks again.
I thought of just having the whole thing shaved off and filled in, but the light does a good job of breaking up all the blank space. Maybe down the line if I get tired of dealing with the light 😂
Car is at indy replacing a few critical parts as well as going over the engine and rubber/plastics bits with a fine tooth comb.
Replacing IMSB Retro, Porsche Motorsports AOS with UAOS, Factory Oil Cooler, LN Low Temp Thermostat, and RMS. Clutch and flywheel are good but will take a look anyways.
Found a cooling hose that has a very slow leak. Probably find a few more things.
Me too, love it. Tomorrow I've got the raceseng shift **** install, that thing is sick. Black w alcantara and red stitching, my new boot is black alcantara with two dark red racing stripes 😎

Put a MR12VOLT Bluetooth! adapter in the frunk. About a 10-minute install. Works amazing. No need to take the dash apart to install behind the PCM! Only thing that is hard is runing the mic through the firewall into the driver area.
installed raceseng stratose shift **** w alcantara and red stitching today. Custom boot in alcantara w racing stripes by JF Customs UK. Mats by cocomats. 😎
Washed it, took it to cars and coffee (biers) ready for next week
I started about 5 am in the morning washing the car and wheels. About 8:30 went to cars and coffee. About 10:30 I felt exhausted drunk, so
i took a nap reclining my seat. Drove it home at
11:30, it was hot and humid so ac was on and I wasn’t really getting on the car. Got home checked all the fluids, no coolant In oil, intermix issues, etc, ready for next weeks adventure. Love that blue. Car has been modified suspension brakes, exhaust. It’s a pdk. Good turnout maybe 30 cars total. Got to love those 996s.
One of the first things I did to my 996 when I took possession was to replace the transmission mount and the motor mounts. She was saggin'. Mines a manual, but the mount refresh helped with the shifting. With the shift right installation this weekend, I feel like that part of the car is 'done'.
I did the same, my mechanic insisted it needed to be done, and with the upgraded shifter and the new mounts, it's much better than the slushbucket it was.
This looks SO much better.
The best thing about the 996 is the easy headlight swap.
In 5 minutes, I can easily swap between my standard 996.2 headlights and my headlights with covers.
It’s also a 15 minute(2 person) job to swap rear decks/spoiler/wings.

I don't suppose you have a list of the hardware needed to install them do you? Or did they come with all the bits? I would love to make my car lighter. My oem seats are in good shape tho. Decisions...I don't plan on selling this car so I can do whatever I guess. Might be the last car I buy, other than one for my son to be 16 son. I'm going to really try and delay him getting behind the wheel.
RantDriving is a privilege not a right, despite what so many seem to feel, based on their driving habits. Many folks must be so important, based on the rush they seem to be in. Ugh. I'm so blessed to have no commute, and can afford grocery delivery.
/RantI only drive for pleasure, so I pick my journey times whenever possible. So it will be fine for that Sunday morning drive. Be safe and enjoy. Remember your 996 hates driving along under 3k rpm. 😎👍
