This is the 'kidney bowl' on a pre-'90's car. I don't think the 993 actually has a kidney bowl as such - just reinforcement section which of course, differs between NB and WB car! Just another hidden detail (and cost)!

Hi Graham,
Nice work so far...sounds like a perfect opportunity to add additional support to those pesky door check strap supports...
Cheers,
Mike

New 964 Speedster A posts are being fitted - these are reinforced at the top as the screen bolts through to them. Indeed the door strap location will have additional welding before installation.

good idea on the door strap reinforcements!
Great progress! It appears you're in good hands with Colin and company!!
Although the image of the girls, they dont appear impressed -- daughter has that 'this is my college fund?' look about her![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Should add that the Speedster hump was trial fitted to see how the panel gaps aligned with the newly fitted turbo quarter panels. Suffice to say that (as expected) after looking at other 993 Speedster photos we can see the fit is not perfect but we now know what adjustments to make the hump and car before we get the paint gun out, 'cause an OK fit won't do at 9m.
Last I saw in the fab shop, Marc had just sliced off the right hand side A-post and was removing the superfluous cabrio screen pillar stiffeners from the sub-structure.

Hi Graham. When you mention "titanium" for the door handles/rear grill etc are you referring to the P61W porsche colour (Steel Grey) colour as used on the anniversary 993 C2S or have you another metallic colour in mind? If so could you share the paint code. I am undertaking a cosmetic program on my 993 and having the wheel centres and grill painted in a similar fashion so just comparing notes.....

Hi Macca - yes it will be as the 993 2S special edition - hopefully 9M will reveal/confirm the actual colour code!
And as for my daughters - one's been to college/uni and now in full time employ (not that I see any cash out-flow difference), youngest (blondie!) is in final year of High school - and the middle of three (yes there are four ladies in my life - hence car's are my escape route) - she's about to set off on a round the world trip - spending 2 months in the USA - arriving in LA - leaving from Boston! She looked bemused when I asked her to check out LA Dismantlers for me!

This week's visit and running report.
Just been across to 9M over in a blustery - but dry (unlike most of the UK) Warrington, and here's the latest update!
As Colin mentioned previously, Marc had removed the A post and inner flitch panel and dash board top to make way for the new Speedster sections. The only dashboard section available is for LHD, so surgery resulted in splitting the section further and regraft with the RHD outer section - easy hey! The dash section is reinforced with extra bracing down to the bulkhead - you can't just drill holes and use repair washers to mount the screen as suggested on one website I found!
So now we have the complete drivers side and dash top - the wing has been trial fitted and gapped (note the repeaters and light washers - smooth!) The last bit to finish is the lower wing extension to match the widebody sill section.

Looking good!
More oil is now required to burn through to the midnight hour and then all being well, the car is off to have a wash next week ............................ in ACID!

And then electroplating for that as new condition! I'll don my protective gear and try and get some snaps down there!
