I went $160k USD a couple months back on my 97 C2S, 36k miles, orig paint. I'm 3rd person to own it.

Wonder if it's worthwhile to go even more at this point.

I just upped it to $140k on mine. Going to $160k would increase premium from $2000 to $2600. Decided to keep it at $140k, but I have half a mind to change it to $160k.

Seems reasonable. I wanted to be sure I could replace it w/o cash from my pocket or come very close. I didn't inquire about premium increase, it did go up, that's for sure. Hagerty. I want the car not the money.

Here is my logic: (please chime in if you think my logic is flawed)

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1997-porsche-911-66/ This car sold for $176,000. It has 7k more miles than my car. Doesn't have sport seats. And I didn't seem to read in the description that it had the preferred engine out maintenance work done.

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...-carrera-s-32/ This car sold for $171,000. It has 3k more miles than my car. Doesn't have sport seats or Aerokit. I don't think this one had engine out valve's, etc. either.

Both of these cars have transferred title in the last few years.

So I might be diluting myself but I actually thought $180k might be a conservative estimate considering my car has great provenance. I've owned the car for 20 years. Have less miles, more options. Recently did an engine out, new clutch, new AC and has more options like LSD, Motor Sound, Aluminum gauges, etc.

Again, if I'm taking crazy pills, somebody tell me.

Fewer miles. You have fewer miles.

So whose insurance applies if your car is in the shop; yours or the shop’s? I ask because if it is the shop’s, it could be less than the increased amounts we’re getting on our personal policies.

As long as your insurance covers it, I don’t think you can get too much insurance short of $200k.

I'm not so sure I would want to insure it that high because the premium will be much more and there's good probablility that they will repair the car at any cost instead of declaring it a total loss. I may not want the car back depending on the damages sustained. I think these agreed values are more important for thefts but if not driven too much, very little chance of that.

Fair point about total loss.

My premium went from $933 to $2000 increasing the value to $140k. Not cheap, but not the end of the world.

If you think 993 prices are sky high....
then do not look at this:

can't say that i completely 'get' the ICON value either, but they routinely bring huge money!!

$1/4M is somewhat staggering, though.
