That’s the position I’m in; 5 cars. I bought my 993 C4S in 2005 and have just put 25k miles on it in 16 years. I’m not trying to save it or keep the mileage low; I just can’t put 10k miles a year on each. I’d have to live in them. Then came working from home for 6 months followed by retirement and my annual mileage is 40% of what it once was.
Side bar: requesting a picture of the '79 targa! What interior color?
from black to raspberry?? that's going to prove a mistake on that car, imo. i will say, i'm always skeptical of a repainted car - quality of work is so important and many are not done as they should be (color change makes it even more important). i'm an original paint guy and i know that's an aspect where i can be overly critical of a car.
I agree with you on originality on lower mileage cars, and yes, check for accident damage, but will respectfully disagree that the paint change relative to this one will be a problem...at 131,000 miles that car hits the "let's do something fun/custom" range...and I guess the owner decided the paint was what they wanted to change? 31,000 miles on the clock and yes, bad move...131,000 on the clock and in good mechanical shape? Let's have some fun!
The repaint happened over 15 years ago per the service records. I went back to the listing and seller states that records from 40k miles and on show the car painted as Raspberry already.
The interior color is cork. The exterior is called tobacco metallic.
That is gorgeous! What color targa bar, silver or black? And those look to be sport seats, too? Each of my cars has tan/natural interior with sport seats/hardback...Elise is black with "biscuit", 997 tt cab is "natural brown" and the C4S is "cashmere"...I just love that interior combo for some reason.

Thanks for posting!
Thank you. By the way, I love the natural brown interior in the turbos.
My targa bar is black. The link below shows what I went through to get sports seats in my SC. Then I’ll apologize and get back on topic.
Apologize? You should get a trophy for dedication. Wow! nice job and well done, how have they held up since then?, looks like its been years.. Nice stable you have, keep enjoying in good health.
For general knowledge, on the instances I have had to dye seats, they always were black interiors and I used colorplus.com products. I don't have those cars anymore but the end result was pretty effective and lasted years.
how well has the dye worn on the seats? it always amazes me that dyes last any length of time considering their use.
They’ve held up very well. It’s been 16 years and I haven’t had to do a touch up. The only wear is where the seat belt crosses over the piping and that’s minor as well. In the spirit of openness I should point out that this isn’t my daily driver; less than 1500 miles a year. I’m sure wear would be worse on a dd. I also throw a towel over the bolsters and don’t slide across them to limit wear. Seems excessive until you have to go through the effort and cost to replace seats.
So here's a question about values and also Auction platforms... since this is not the 993 Turbo forum, but even still, their prices haven't performed as strongly as C4S/C2S cars.

What's the deal with the huge price discrepancy on otherwise almost identical cars? Is it the Tan interior? Is it PCar vs BaT? Is it the Full Respray?
The BaT car looks near perfect. Bumper resprays are a non-issue. That car has a Euro bumper, so you obviously are going to be painting part of the car.
Re: the pcarmarket car, I thought this quote tells the tale….
”I saw this car just prior to this auction. The seller needs to be more forthcoming. The repair on this car would rate as subpar with obvious signs that nothing was removed for the work. Overspray, tape lines and more. Could be a nice car after a proper Re spray at a qualified shop. The car needs a full glass out repaint. Someone please buy this car and restore it to a condition commensurate with its miles.”
A shoddy repaint is worse than no repaint. It also speaks to a questionable ownership and maintenance history. If you half assed the repaint, what else? If you aren’t forthcoming about the paint, then what else are you hiding? Of course that poster could have been lying. It also raises the question - why would such a low miles car need a full repaint? Was the car left out in the elements its whole life? Was there an incident? All this innuendo is enough to kill the auction.
Specifics of the above mentioned 2 action results aside, the answer is production numbers. 993TTs (Not turbo S) are just shy of 6000 produced for NA which is more than the C2S/C4S numbers combined. Making the non turbo wide body 993 variant even more rare. Also all 993 turbos are AWD which feeds into the endless debate about 2WD being a better driving experience than an AWD. I am on the side of the AWD argument based on personal ownership experience.
To me it’s like saying I prefer a 997 Carrera S over a 997 Turbo. Not even in dreamsZzz.

Heck…even KIAs are “Turbo Charged” today. So what? It’s more than just that. Back in the day the TT was super fast but today that’s nothing compared to what’s out there today. Less reliability issues and piping vs the TT. N/A engines sound better too.
C2S/C4S without the rear wing unlike the Turbo, combined with the WB looks is a moving piece of art.
Anybody have a chart of TT Auction Sold prices plotted against the C2S/C4S recent Auction prices?
