As much as I love air cooled cars, especially my 993; for $349k I’m buying a new GT2 RS with 0 miles on it. But I recognize many will disagree, and that’s fine.

The rising prices are more a function of perception, interest rates, disposable income, and an assumption that prices will continue to rise.

One group of owners and buyers pursue these car for enjoyment, others for profit

For those that don't enjoy or use their car, they might now consider putting their $ in things that will yield a return in the current economic picture.

Less discretionary income for people as a whole (inflation) will ultimately lead to less demand and lower prices for these cars.

Will the prices rise again - yes. Its been a cycle repeated over and over based on economics.

THe 28k miles Vesuvio Metallic '97 C2S just "hammered" for $236K+$5K on BAT. Some kinda record for a NA 993.

Not bad, when I saw it come up for sale I thought $225-$235K. Seems like a fair price given the current market.

I paid $95K for an exact copy of that Vesuvio BaT car with similar mileage back in 2018......and thought I might have been overpaying.....

Guess it's time to revisit the stated value policy with the ol' insurance co.

I would think the Vesuvio Carrera S would be a narrow buyers market, hence the hammer price. Some that speculate, like physical car hedge fund managers buy these to be stored as a collection or group of cars and sold at a later point in time. I know of a few collections that sold as of late and liquidated.

When I was on the hunt for my Carrera S in 2001, there were two vesuvio 2s that were for sale. One was local at Champion in FL when I was living there.
I understand that a lot of classic Pcar buyers want that unique color but I couldn't bring myself to buy that color even though it had everything else I wanted.

Color taste is very subjective. I've always been a bit boring with my color choices.

But.... Just to be clear: We now have the highest sold 993 NA. It's a 2s and has Aerokit. And while it has a color that is desirable because of fewer production #'s, it's certainly not the lowest mileaged 993..

In conclusion - 2S and Aero wins!!!

^^^^ Not so fast….. this was a limited edition and so happened to be a “S” similar to Riviera Blue, Rubystone etc…. A bit of an “outlier” This isn’t apples to oranges.

no matter how valuable, i wouldn't want to drive around in a purple 911 either.

Limited Edition? What was limited about it? Not like it had a factory 3.8 in it. So, just the paint? That's like saying my car is an outlier because I have a rear windshield wiper. :P
