And do the same in a C2S and it's even lighter still. With less than 300hp weight is more important in these cars than power. Many RS Porsche on paper don't look to be that special, 993 RS anyone? But then you drive it.

Add another red dot above that 170K mark. Tarek just sold another C2S on BaT for over $180K today.

Did anyone happen to see one of the last comments in that thread? There is a gent with the handle of "Takefive" with this comment...I wish I could "follow" him on BaT...he also has a comment in a CGT sale that is really important relative to the design...

This one made me want to go out to my garage and hug my C4S (even though it doesn't have the split grill).

"When we were given the job of doing the S I wanted to somehow amplify the significance of this being the last air cooled 911, not just the 993 but this particular model.
Think about that, the last air cooled Porsche, ever.
So the split grill was my answer, a call back to the twin grill 356.
A work of art?
No, but thanks for the compliment.
It is, however, a significant sealing stamp at the end of an era.
I have not wanted to comment on auctions to avoid influencing the result but I guess I have now “outed” myself.
What a beautiful example, congratulations to the seller and buyer."

@Britzky9 Thanks for pointing that out, that is very cool. There is a fantastic recent (2021) interview with Tony Hatter where he discusses designing the 993 and CGT here:

Its been a while since I tried to scope out the value of my car, a single owner 1996 C2 that I purchased brand spanking new in May of that year, polar silver, stick shift. Am I to understand this car with 111K miles is now worth almost $100K or am I reading this wrong? Holy crap. Not that I plan to sell it. Mine is the only butt that has ripped a fart in the driver's seat and its gonna stay that way, but jeez, what's happened to car prices? Surely this is a bubble. Oh well.

Now that you’ve documented farting in the seat, its worth 20% less, because someone in the BAT peanut gallery will point that out and ask for documentation of the fart.

It’s not a bubble. Last iteration of the Air Cooled era and mostly hand built. Porsche will never make them again. These cars will continue to go up in value.

Not yet. It appears to still be for sale. Can’t count it until after the sale.

Began looking for a C2S driver in 2014 on an on and off basis. Finally found one last summer. The split rear grill might be a matter of preference to some folks but I agree it ties it to history and puts an exclamation point of design on the end of an era.
