Where are we coming up with dual MC's on the RS? The 993RS used essentially the same braking system as the 964 RS but with the larger front and rear calipers and rotors. The 964 RS used the 964 3.3L turbo front calipers which are the medium S4's or essentially the 993 n/a fronts but with a 322mm x 32mm front rotor vs a 304 x 32mm front. The RS master cylinder on both RS's used was the single 25.4mm with the electro hydraulic setup which IMO gives a superior feel and braking modulation.

The RSR offered an upgrade to the front by using spacers and 330mm front rotors.

Electro hydraulic MC on a RSR 3.8 993 Same system I am running on my track car.

Hard to tell from the picture but this is the front caliper and rotor of a RSR 3.8 993 using the upgraded 330mm rotor. I plan to do this on my track car which is already running RS and I wouldn't go back. A very nice system and helps with the added rear weight of the turbo engine and RWD.

Yes you are right. The 996 onwards used the dual master setup. I stand corrected.

Lot of great info in this (long) thread for those interested in a deep dive:

The brakes will be not only same as she was in origin, but also the ones that stayed 4,5 years underwater, compleately overhauled and as brand new (better than brand new like the good Highlands single malt whiskey aged under the peat)!

I will have to choose soon in which color get the calipers repaintted: so far I think the original black paint would fit the car best, any ideas?

Meanwhile the engine is in very very good hands: for some twist of fate (a good one), by a dear friend, car enthusiast and Porsche motorsport driver, I was put in contact with a famous workshop here in Italy that has operated in the world of racing with Porsche cars for over 40 years and which today is an absolute reference point in the world of Porsche Motorsport.

I am really happy, because after so much effort and time spent in finding the necessary information not only to restore the body to the state it was originally, but to give it much higher specifications, and then again after looking for parts for more than 3 years now accross half of Europe in order to optimize costs, now also all the mechanical aspects, the final vehicle overall check, the start-up and the final "messa in strada" will be of 100% absolute level.

You should reach out to Brembo, and for exchange in marketing/ use of your incredible story etc. see if they'll rebuild the calipers back to spec! ( I think I drove by the factory in Bergamo? while on a business trip..)

But the 993 Cup had them painted in black.

I suspect it is because the red, under heavy heating, turns from veri bright to little bit darker red.

Caliper colors.....
Depends on color of the car and wheels. Classic red would work well with your yellow car, as would black. Either would work with silver wheels too.

In my case the OEM Big Reds clashed with Arena Red car color. Since I knew I wanted black wheels (anodized Fiske's so purplish black) yellow was the best choice.

I used epoxy paint and it's held up really well. The handful of times I've tracked it did not change color of the calipers.

Love your project! Mad respect for all your work!!!

I like black, myself. You can go a little crazy with the lettering color. I refinished mine and did the PORSCHE in a "white gold" to match my wheels.

How about something a little more avantgarde like Rubystone Red or a pink or purple 🟣 color? Would look killer against yellow.

The car is all yellow, black rubber, black interior linings, black 3 points safety belts, Maritime blue 6 points harness.
the BBS E29 are woth BBS gold centers and polished outer lips, but I wouldn't consider the BBS Gold a color part of the package, since it is the color of BBS.

The only other color of the oroginal brake calipers other than black could be maritime blue.

If there would be installed the Brembo Braling system as the one of the Guntherwerls 993, is would be some. kind of metallic bronze, and it would look amazing, but in that case the shape of the calipers is also very different, more squared and in bigger size.

Maybe it's just me, but calipers in "weird" colors looks tacky. Boy racer look. Either red, black or yellow in my humble opinion.

I agree, 99% I am for black calipers, even if they were big reds, I would like them black.

Black, with a little “personalization”.
