Parts proudly showing themselves before being reassembled: isn't it pure beauty?

One is fully rebuild and ready for installation, the other one is the one with demaged internal gears, not really as much as are the gearbox gear wheel teeth.

What do you mean exactly, Cobalt, can you be clearer, sometimes english technical language is still a problem for me.

I guess I could have written intermediate shaft instead of layshaft. I am assuming that is the confusion?

Thank you for the clarification: intermediate shaft is its original one, I had only to remove the wheel and insert the one coming from coupled wheel set "0-0" that are as brand new, infact they come from the intermediate shaft that Patrick from Sweeden didn't use on his Porsche Carrera R.
The chain wheels are brand new from FVD, both on intermediate and camshaft side.

I asked them about the quality and they assured me they never had any issue: now I dont recall it precisely, whether they are genuine or from a specific very well known producer.
But I am not sure if this was your question or not.

Hi Guys,

I would like to try reuse and meanwhile modify the existing mufflers, by opening them, removing the sound deadening stuff and get them modified for a better flow.

I know here on the rennlist forum there are loads of info in this regard, I would need a thread where to see how the standard muffler are made inside, from whicj side is better to open them not to damage the internals and how should they be modified to male of them an exact replica of the RSR ones (also how much and what type of sound deadening should ld be placed inside).

On the catalyst side, can you please indicate me where I can source the two cat inserts from a good producer?
I heard about HJS, as well as Brain Tech cats, 200 cells passes the pollution test, 100 cells I heard it doesn't.

Not sure what is done to RSR but if your looking for something a bit loud and no drone, this worked for me (all packing removed)-

The final result sounds really nice and not that loud at all.
Did you replace the sound deadening rock wool inside the mufflers?

From my point of view it is something very desirable bring original parts back in the right place they belong to, with slight modification: cat inserts and mufflers, while heat exchangers will be removed from the primaries.

I must get info how rsr mufflers where made inside.

Paolo, if you’re intent on modifying your mufflers, this LPMM method was done by many, and I think all were happy. The size of the external bypass pipe controls the volume. I’ve had the RSR mufflers, and while I don’t want crazy loud, they were too subtle of a change from stock. The LPMM details:

The other option is Fister, which is probably the most popular option today. Darin will modify yours or do an exchange. However, you being in Italy with shipping and applicable taxes, it may not be prudent. I’ve got the stage 2 versions, which to me is the sweet spot. Enough change to give a great sound and get compliments, but not so loud that the policeman a 1/2 mile away hears you coming.

so inside they are like shown in the picture of INTMD8, exactly like that, i. e. leaving that small portion of pitted tube?
But INTMD8 did apply the bypass outside as well, or not?

I mean, the bypass outside is an option or must be done?
And while the more the diameter of the bypass outside is larger, the higher it is the sound, actually I am not interested in having a louder sound, but more efficient and lighter mufflers, a freeer flow, but withoud droning.

I have to open them in any case to get them cleaned, it seems the best way is cutting next to the edge on the side where in and out ducts are, from the photo it seems that the casing then comes off easily, or?

Primaries are going to be re-installed stripped, with heat exchangers removed: is it possible to get them and the cat box insulated somehow?

I don't believe many people make internal changes when doing the external bypass.

I modified mine on the inside only. No external bypass.
