992.2 Info
They invited @silversurfer6 onstage to honor his contributions to this thread - or maybe it’s a ruse so they can throw him in Porsche prison!

Seems the biggest increase is in the UK but I will confirm.
I am not sure how this is associated with the 911 but somehow it should.

But they haven’t even announced the .2 GTS and allocations are already being handed out?
Made the exact same decision. The non SD redesigned bumpers don’t look dramatically different so styling wise it’s a wash. I’m sure new S will be a bit faster but I bet new base price will be $140K or so. ADMs will run rampant too at least in SoCal. Amazing the price increases that Porsche has gotten away with but plenty of willing buyers. I guess the price increases at least help stem depreciation of the 992.1. But at what point do buyers start eyeing a used Ferrari Roma for example vs a 992.2 new GTS or even a 992.2 S - these prices are getting closer.
Why would you go from the car everyone wants to the car you’re forced to buy because no one wants it in order to get a co allocation for the car you do want?
Amazing that they can keep pumping the price increases on the SUVs, especially since everything that you read says that owners who trade in 1-2 year old Cayennes/Macans are getting hammered on the trade-ins. Slowly these are become lease only vehicles to allow for a fixed depreciation trajectory, and let Porsche deal with the secondary market for selling them CPO or at auction.
I’ve had mine since last November. I put nearly the price of the car down. So that’s technically my “ADM” since it’s money I’m not making investments or interest on.
That’s the difference between “we will put your name down” and a phone call same day saying “lets finalize your spec so we can officially summit it” when the actual orders open.
Dealer depending I suppose.
But yeah, for “official” allocations, I’ve yet to hear anything about that.

When I started thinking about ordering a new 911 in 2019, it started at $92k (991.2). Now we’re at $114k ahead of the 992.2 announcement. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the base price crest $120k, but probably not $130.
So that’s 22k in five years. But once optioned out, to get a manual the way I want it, real MSRP has increased by what seems like double that number.

Q the I have a 992.2 allocation (locks in two weeks, super excited dream car with pts) but should I wait for the 99x to protect myself from depreciation threads.
I don't follow...which car does no one want? The 992.1 S? Porsche Newport just sold a couple with $10K ADMs so I wouldn't call that "no one" wanting it lol. If presented a 992.1 vs. a 992.2 side by side and the 992.2 is 510 HP / eTurbo but also weighs 100-200 lbs more + costs $10K+ more (ignoring wait time) I would 100% buy a 992.1 each time. Maybe I'm in the minority (probably).

I'd buy a 992.1 over 992.2...
-At the same price
-Even if the 992.2 is meaningfully more powerful (assuming it is electrified)
I like the look of 992.1 more, I like the analog tach, I strongly dislike an electrified drivetrain.
Aesthetically, some or most of the 992.2 changes look like they're in place because they had to change something. 992.1 is more coherent.
I think the biggest downside risk for the 992.1 (that no one is talking about) is that the 992.2 Carreras could get the GT3 multi-link suspension up front. That would be a meaningful difference. I guess it probably won't, given the complete lack of foreshadowing.
