SA told me today that ordering for 992.2 ordering will start in September/October and will only be for base... they will not initially offer 992.2 for certain models for a year or so.... certain other models that came in later in 992.1 will be available to be ordered but only in 992.1 trim.... in other words 992.1 and 992.2 models will overlap for a couple years until all orders will become 992.2...... except for base.

I don't know. It looks like the power and performance specifications have not been updated, so I would guess no.

I heard from reliable sources that Porsche is going to be making a 992.2 911.

You heard it here first.

Okay, so putting together all the rumors as best I can, I summarize for the 992.2 release:
  • Base - 'summer 2024' announcement, possibly May 28 (week 22). Production start second half of 2024, might deliver some by late 2024 / early 2025 to the USA. More powerful 3.0 flat-6 turbo with a possible 48V mild hybrid system
  • S - possibly part of the summer 2024 announcement but might be later. More powerful 3.0 flat-6 turbo with a 48V mild hybrid system
  • GTS - possibly part of the summer 2024 announcement or much later. Uses a 3.0 flat-6 turbo, 3.6 flat-6 turbo, or 3.6 flat-6 NA with a possible 48V mild hybrid system or 400V full hybrid system. 475hp total
  • GTS 'Super' - announced later possibly sometime in 2025 or 2026. Unknown engine with a with a 400V full hybrid. 520+hp total.
  • Turbo - possibly sometime in 2025. Use a new 3.6 flat-6 turbo with a possible 48V mild hybrid system
  • Turbo S (or Turbo GT) - announced later possibly sometime in 2025 or 2026. Use a new 3.6 flat-6 turbo with a 400V full hybrid system
  • GT3 - possible 2025 announcement. Possibly use a 3.6 NA engine with higher output.

What do mean by release ?
Announce ? they will tell you what's coming
1st deliveries will be launch specs decided by Porsche
Orders will be some time after
Models will be staggered over several years, just like every other generation

My dealer says in Canada the orders will start in the fall and the first deliveries will be in February. He was pretty certain this is accurate as they plan promotional dollars with Porsche and they have allocated promotional funds for 911 starting in February. I guess we'll see what happens.

Good rumors here, good speculation - that's what this thread is for after all.

It’s actually to complain about it firstly.

Based on said speculation.

based on watching decades of car releases and how they play out on forums I'm finally starting to believe that we are close to an actual announcement. I'm actually kinda bought in on silversurfer's timeline. A month from now we'll all be furiously and emotionally debating changes that to the regular world are so small they'll nearly be imperceptible.

Truthfully I suspected this all along as this is how it has played out in the past.

Hybrid as a concept may not be terrible but for a 911
whose core ethos is this classic, mechanical, raw charismatic car that kept its DNA for so long, wont work. I think older non hybrid cars will appreciate tremendously. I’d see the point of a hybrid in a ferrari 296 or a lambo ruvelto or a corvette zr1 or new mclarens who are chasing high horsepower figures, lap times, 1/4 mile times, this and that. As much as Porsche marketing tries to inject these concepts into their marketing strategy, we old timer Porsche fanatics all came here at some point in our lives for what makes Porsche a Porsche. I fear an electrical motor will totally change the character of the car.

Define better? What is better? I dont want my Turbo S to have 0 turbo lag. I want to feel some of that lag because thats what a 911 Turbo had all the way to the first one. Perhaps I am getting too old. I dont want my GT3RS to have 620 hp instead of 520 hp. I want to be able to drive my RS to its limit without feeling its a ferrari or corvette thats trying to kill me. This is really a sad juncture for me. I am glad I was able to enjoy several models of 911 line up in the last decade and I have multiple cars being built in the older generation. I’ll hang onto them for as long as I can.

I drove the Artura and 296 GTB extensively. ZERO interest. They are “too good” and have no soul.

Porsche has confirmed that Base, and S will NOT be hybrid, while GTS and Turbo WILL be hybrid. This was in the annual shareholder meeting that someone posted in this thread. We don't need to keep speculating about the entire lineup being Hybrid in the .2

will be interesting to see the power gain on the GTS/Turbo. Along with the "soul" factor that is held in high regard with existing GTS/Turbo
