Porsche has confirmed that Base, and S will NOT be hybrid, while GTS and Turbo WILL be hybrid. This was in the annual shareholder meeting that someone posted in this thread. We don't need to keep speculating about the entire lineup being Hybrid in the .2
I will be shell-shocked if the base and S do not have a minimum of 48v. CAFE is ultimately what is pushing 48v.
I agree. The factory would have to make too many variants to continue pure ICE (no mild hybrid). And those trims represent the sales volume leaders, so without an MPG/CO2 improvement in those - what's the point of it all? They don't sell enough units of the higher trims to gather any gains from just full hybrids there.

As I said, the 48V mild hybrids will most likely NOT be marketed as "hybrids" at all, AKA will just be called "ICE". Most people will not even know or care that they have a mild hybrid system on their vehicle. Much of BMW's entire line-up is at least mild hybrid these days, but none of cars with mild hybrid systems are called hybrids. It is really just more of after-thought, I included it here though for clarity (and it had been discussed / reported in the press with more emphasis that is probably warranted https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a4...e-911-preview/).
Having a 48V mild hybrid system on the vehicle should be of little to no concern to anyone serious about buying / owning a 911. It will add a trivial amount of weight, cost, and complexity to the car. Sure it is one more thing to go wrong, but that can be said for every component on the car.

This seems plausible. Audi RS6 (and I think the other V8 RS cars) has a 48v 'hybrid' setup that aids auto start stop. The gas engine will shut off when coasting to a stop for example. Audi does not call it a hybrid, and makes no mention of any performance add from the 48v system, in fact, they don't mention it much at all. I do think there is some performance add though, as a 0-60 run with launch control seems to exceed the capabilities of the ICE alone. Porsche could take the same approach. The real penalty there is no manual capability. Unless Porsche pulls some magic out of their hat.
You should research all the problems Audi has had with their 48V systems. Hopefully Porsche does it better, but I specifically stopped an upgrade of my 2017 S7 to a 2022 RS7 because of 48V problems.

They definitely can as past automakers have already done it. The question is will they.
got on an allocation wait list and SA told me GTS doesn’t have manual option bcs it has an electric motor but S has a manual… which I understood as S won’t have the electric component. In the process, I talked to a few different dealers and they all seemed to have the same info.

The best advice I can offer is never fully trust the information of a SA on a product that has not been revealed/launched. They don’t know anymore than we do.
