I heard that only the Coupe and Cab (base and GTS) will be released this year and that the Targa won't be released until 2025 or 2026.

Anyone heard the same?

That helps used car prices but a pretty big hit for someone looking for a new car.

So are they going to continue to build 992.1s (some trims) alongside the .2s? And continue to tag them as model year 2024s? They can't put these other models on hiatus, and not sell them at all. Porsche is trying to rake in all the cash they can and run the assembly line to the max while demand is strong, so they can't just stop producing some variants until next year.

Traditionally Porsche keeps the older sub-models in production while the newer models are rolled out.

Porsche is a business… like every business they will price their products in such a way that makes them the most margin. If they can sell every car they build for 10% more, they’ll do it. It’s supply and demand brother, can’t be mad about it… without capitalism this would be a Lada forum and Bore Scoring would be the least of our worries…

This is quite possibly true. Also using the same tach as the Tycan contributes to cost savings (not just in shared parts, but also in engineering, design, development, and testing).

That is probably part of the reason, it is also cheaper for Porsche, and as a bonus most consumers think that all screens is an upgrade.

It’s kind of sad because all the dashes have no soul to them anymore. If you covered the badge on the steering wheel, you almost can’t tell the difference between all the brands. It’s a giant rectangle screen for the driver, and a giant rectangle screen in the center.

Porsche will still find a way to charge us for a colored tachometer.

Good question...if the GTS still has a turbo, which seems to be the rumour, I should be able to tune it close to 650hp bringing me near the stock Turbo S power of a 992.1.. GTS is also much lighter and RWD which makes it a bit more fun and nimbler on the track in my opinion..

Things I wish the new 992.2 would have:
-better sounding stock sport exhaust (not gonna happen).
-better PDK paddles (similar to the the GT3RS, also not gonna happen).
-no PDK nubbin stalk (not happening)
-Grabbier standard brakes (maybe?)
-lighter overall weight (nope)
-higher redline (on Turbo charged models, Ferrari's go to ~8k rpm, and not gonna happen).
-lightweight bucket seats with more articulation.
-better standard color palette.
-Factory ducktail option for all models.
-nicer looking aero kit.

Instead , Porsche says, here is a more expensive, heavier hybrid for you. Thing is, I'm still very curious and eager to know the final specs and details. 10 more days...

Cheap, fast, reliable. Choose two — you want lighter weight. Me too. Another $100,000 to the MSRP though.

also —what you are not hearing about yet is the good stuff. None of us really care about the hybrid powertrains. But there’s some good stuff coming too.

Andreas Preuninger has repeatedly stated that if individuals want lighter weight then maybe they should consider losing some weight themselves. 😂 Valid point.

Eturbo tech is a completely different beast and tuning will not be easy.
