If the base just has a slight hp and torque bump and not the electric turbo/bigger power bump, I would think the price change would be larger for the GTS than the base. However, they could just spread the cost through all of the 911 models. I think the cayenne just got a big bump across all models.

Yea I'm kind of pissed I'm spending $150k on a C2S when ~2 years ago it would've been closer to ~$135k but granted my investments have grown by a larger magnitude so I guess it offsets? Justifications...LOL. Prices go up for everything over the years whether its milk or homes so if you have the cash to buy today, and want it, do it. And the great thing is that if you don't love it you can sell it for likely minimal loss and make a different decision going forward. I can't possibly imagine the 992.2 being so life-changing that it will justify a significant price increase other than you physically won't be able to get a 992.1 from Porsche directly anymore (and it offers some likely useless hybrid component). What I really don't care for about the 992 generation is the interiors for the cars is virtually the same between base Carrera and Turbo S. Sure the Turbo S is creme da la creme in terms of performance but for double the price I'd want a significantly upscaled interior that doesnt just make it seem like any old 911 (without spending thousands on silly coloring options).

I'm willing to bet that the uplift will be felt across all 911 sub-model lines, rather than specific products like the GTS. If Porsche can get a bigger premium on the base, they will get it. I don't know how sales are broken up across the 911 sub-model lines though.

From the looks of the spyshots, i don't see any improvements in the interior, that would justify the price hike - that hike is going to be for the engineering. I'm with you though, i was hoping for an interior that was like the 997.1 to the 997.2 - it seems that all we are getting is the .... digital dash.

Agreed re .2 interior updates and some will be absolutely thrilled with that. I am in the camp of wanting the tach to remain analog.

The digital tach in cayenne/taycans I have personally driven was very laggy and not natural. I really disliked it, this is besides not liking the digital tach concept. Its implementation is not that great, which isnt a shocker. Porsche UI is really not that great, technology is probably several years behind to have a smooth tach (i.e what you would see in GT7 playing in PS5).

absolutely! I have a 24 s cayenne. The digital display/ tach is fine but very laggy. Don’t really care because it is the freakin baby wagon. I definitely would not want it on my 911!

Unfortunatley, you will find even more of this with those brands as well. I inquired about purchasing a 296 GTB at my local dealer which offers MSRP pricing and though all allocations were filled, the inventory they had were pricing out at over 450k, one was over 500k but they said theyd discount it to 490k for me lol.. I then looked into a Mclaren 750s which they offered me an immediate allocation and gave me the build guide.. With very basic options it was at minimum 415k MSRP.. which is ridiculous considering how much they depreciate. Even guys on the Mclaren forums getting special discounts were still touching 400k.. At that point I walked to the Porsche dealer who I have a relationship with and put down a deposit for a 992.2 GTS at MSRP, am 3rd on the list from what I was told.. so even with the price hike, its still 150k-200k less than the others making it a deal in my eyes.. I understand with the build I want to put together ill be around 220k on my GTS.. I also inquried about new Gwagon G63 and those will also get a price hike, so around 220k for that with options... The only plus side is the Porsche and G wagon should hold value very well at trade in time... Inflation and demand... no way around it.

Given you were shopping at McLaren and Ferrari, why consider a 992.2 GTS and not the 992.2 Turbo S?

Have fun picking out a base 992.2's worth of options to get the 296 you want, or with your McLaren spending more time at the dealer than your garage.

Really though, 296 option pricing is baffling. Sure, the base is $320k which isn't that insane historically for the entry mid-engine Ferrari. But most of the press cars are basically half a million bucks. That's my entire '22 GTS in options. Are you really complaining about Porsche pricing in that context?

As I was once told by a very wise man, “The Porsche world is a very nice world to live in”.

This same man also told me, “Half the fun of a Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc is walking by the showroom window and knowing you can afford to buy one”.

That wise man obviously has never driven a Ferrari or Lamborghini.

What Porsche really needs to keep 911 prices reasonable - is a new sports car above the 911 in the price/profit structure to compete with McLaren, the 296, etc. Yes they have the GT cars and the Turbo S, but people don't see that much differentiation between the lower trims and those trims - it's still basically a 911. If they had another mid-engine car, and not just a low production volume special like the 918, they could win some sales from cross shoppers to those other brands as well as people buying up within the Porsche brand. They seem to be willing to do that with this new king-size SUV they are making above the Cayenne, so why not in this segment.
