Best thing about the Carrera S over the base Carrera is that you can get manual transmission.

You could always recoup any power losses (and then some) due to altitude with an M-Tune for $2500 too.

I like the front (and maybe rear) aeromods. Can you share where you got those from?

Actually not. Tunes simply eat in the engine’s thermodynamic margin to produce more power in more favorable conditions and are therefore limited in their ability to compensate for unfavourable DA.

I think this is exactly how Doc Brown was able to make his DeLorean travel through time.

Doesn’t that invalidate the warranty?

He's trying to say that tunes only work at lower elevations where the air density is higher because that gives the tuner a greater range of adjustment to make more power, but I would suggest talking to an actual expert like Mitch McKee.

I have a base...I don't ever think I need an S.

Basically you are set no matter which 911 you pick.

M-engineering literally run their tuned cars on Pikes Peak with winning results lol.

Except the engines are identical mechanically for the Carrera/S/GTS. So if one gets a pair of S/GTS turbos and a tune then one has a GTS motor.

There's a track battle on youtube between a 992 Base and a 996TT. Despite the higher HP of the TT, the Base won by 4 seconds on a short course with the same driver. I haven't driven a 992, base or otherwise, but fail to understand the need for more power than the base on a road car. Most people can't handle 4000HP at the limit. If you can and you want a track car, neither the Base nor the S are ideal anyway.
