First “mod” since taking delivery yesterday. Black leather. Many more real mods to come! @toph4242 I think it was you like 7000 posts ago considering this to avoid fingerprints, so I’m not taking credit for this idea!
Got my car back today, from the PPF jail.
Unfortunately, no pictures as I was in a hurry. But they will come.
I drove around 150 miles today (a good mix of small B roads and autobahn) and reached the "5000 rpm milestone" too. Reached a speed average of 65 mph and the car averaged 25 mpg (9.4 l/100km, ~1000 km/1 fill up), so quite close to macboy's dream of 1100 km/on one tank of fuel.
Gearbox: if you let the springs guide you, there is impossible to miss a downshift. I have tried 7-6, 6-5, 5-4 and 4-3 a couple of times, sometimes even one after another if the speed/rpm was allowing it. It just slides into the lower gear like a hot knife through butter. Really wanted to try this, because I had one instance where I went into 4th instead of 6th, downshifting from 7th. And only because I "manhandled" the gearbox leaver instead of letting the springs guide me. Otherwise, no complaints. And I need this long 7th - for autobahn driving. The T feels at home at 100-130 mph in the 7h.
Steering: A little too direct and light at speed (I have the "extra assistance"...the dealer suggested it, oh well), maybe it's the thin steering wheel too (despite being a thicker GT steering, it is still thinner than a BMW M steering wheel). It also has a smaller radius too. Steering feel and grip: Very nice, I can feel the road/texture through the steering wheel. Tons of grip. Also, I now understand what macboy was telling us regarding the rear wheel steering. You turn in, a little at the beginning, the *** follows but if you say, oh well, let's tighten the radius, you can feel something like an extra steering wheel kicking in and giving you that radius. I love the feeling , I am someone who likes to make precise, linear and "in one move" steering inputs. I never "see saw" at the wheel, looking for the grip limit or trying to make the car turn more. I do that through the gas pedal, that's why, I prefer a car that has good steering input&feel and reacts well to gas pedal changes/inputs. So, if with the RAS I can input a tigher line which I can then balance with the gas pedal, I am all in favor.
Stereo unit: It has enough wattage and good base (Burmester). I still have to learn how to organize my mp3s on a USB, so that I can access a certain folder with the least ammount of inputs. Looks like the newer systems favor playlists/streams. I am still stuck at folders/mp3s on a USB stick.
Power: adequate, without any excess. Even castrated to 4000 rpm, I was able to stay in front on the autobahn, on hilly tearrain too. Very linear power delivery, none of the rubber banding I feel in my F80 Clubsport.
Really curios what happens between 5000-7400 rpm. It must sound and feel glorious
Still to investigate (or try more of it): there might be a whistling sound developing at 125-130 mph and above, around the sunroof area.
I didn't order it with my SD front fascia and haven't gotten close to scraping the nose in 3 weeks and 2100 miles. Like ^ said, you live in San Fran? You probably need it, you live in a city like Buffalo/Chicago/Cleveland, you probably don't need it.
Are you kidding me! I am so all over this. Is this your company or are you testing this for them? I would love to get on a list so that when they are ready I can order. This made my day.
zero affiliation, I’ve just been looking for options since having had a glimmer of hope with Aerokit but not getting my allocation in time.
I can see if you had SD package this design fits right in for air flow, but I have regular bumper.
I have sport bumpers without FAL and have been pleasantly surprised that I'm not scraping more, including the 5, ridiculously tall speed bumps in my neighborhood.

You are playing music to my ears Uhu! Continue with your petrol poetry. It gives me the will to wait for the delayed delivery!
Re your point on what happens at +5000rpm. An instructor at Porsche Experience Centre told me that variable valve timing changes the timing squeezing extra bit of power and making the engine howl. Fuel mapping and ignition timing amplifies the VVT for a spectacular effect.
My own observation: it releases dopamine in our brain and that is how we get hooked on petrol flat six.

Thank you very much for your nice and good review. You just missed some bonus points not adding pictures. I am already at 3500km (2175 miles) after exactly 4 weeks so it’s not really going according to my plan. But hey FML. I drove a slow part yesterday on a 80km/h road and made it to 1:15,3. That is 6,5l/100km. That is 36mpg (USA). Insane! So I am changing my plan from 1100km on one range to 1200 range on screen.
FYI: I don’t have that whistle you mentioned. TIP: try turning of the airco and see if it remains.

Great to read this and that I am not crazy but indeed something happens above 5000rpm and with the sound at 6000rpm when the high snoar comes in.
