Yeah, they told me allocations are pretty scarce but I should get one. I am not expecting it until late 2024 at this stage.

Picked up my T on Friday from PCM. I was told the dealer had one as well, but the other 7 folk my
sales agent had orders from didn’t have allocations yet.

what city are you in? For reference I’m in Toronto. TYD didn’t update after “enroute to dealer” for me until after I activated Porsche Connect.

My T was just delayed another month. Been sitting at port since 4-17. Scheduled to ship now on 6-22….

Captain's Log: May 21, 2023. 440 miles on the T. Updated impressions:

Yesterday I put about 250 miles on the T. Drove to CT to Caffeine and Carburetors (awesome event) and then out to the Hamptons doing some errands. Here's the short and long version of my second impression (second day) driving the car:

- 911's are magically sexy and appeal to all.
- The 7spd manual is growing on me.
- Front end is still a 911.
- Rear end is still a 911.
- Cargraphic EV controller is how this car should come from the factory and is a REQUIRED mod for all T owners.
- 911 vs Cayman GTS4.0 verdict? I'm glad I have both.

Longer version:
The T was a huge hit at the C&C, and everywhere it goes. 911's are just so good looking and iconic. And it makes me feel good just driving it. As you know, I own a `22 Cayman GTS4.0, so I'll be comparing the two constantly. The 911 is way better looking IMO. But to my taste, I prefer how the mid-engine car drives over the rear engine car. That's not to say I don't love them both. And I have seen up close the 911 advantages on track, how it accelerates out of a turn, but I feel like the mid-engine is just more well balanced for those of us who are not competitively racing. Similar argument to PDK vs manual. One is faster, one is more enjoyable. The light front end of a 911 as you go over uneven roads is still there but greatly subdued with engineering, tech and time. But it's still there. The steering is excellent. And THE BRAKES ARE AMAZING! The 911T brakes are incredible. The pedal is firm and they are strong - much better than the CGTS which I think has bigger brakes. The CGTS has more pedal travel before engagement whereas the 911 is immediate and stronger.

The 7spd manual is growing on me. I've never, ever had to think about what gear I'm in as I drive (in nearly 40 years of manual driving) and yet somehow I find myself thinking just a bit before and during a quick shift. The centering spring is strong so you do have to be deliberate to avoid being brought to center (which is between 3-4th greats) if you are not intending to be there. But it's a good tranny. What I do find different is what I think is the feeling caused by the cables. It's almost like there's more flex in the 911 cables than in the 718. Especially in lower gears. But as I said, it's growing on me and if I didn't have both cars, I'd never know the difference.

The Cargraphic VC is definitely money well spent. At anything in low RPMS's and especially very low like driving in/out of a car show, the exhaust sounds very good. I'm still keeping RPM's low, so I'm not sure if this will be enough for me without exhaust mods, but it might be. Now, the NA 4.0 in the 718 is just far superior in sound. It is. But the turbo whine is growing on me and the 3.0tt engine seems very good. More on that after it's broken in though, to be fair.

Overall, I love the car, well, cars. I love owning a 911, but so far, I love driving a 718 more. Thankfully, I don't have to choose between them!

Hopefully, people will appreciate this info and take it for what it is: just some early impressions. More to come if you want to hear it. Please don't beat me up if you disagree with any of it. I may change my mind on half of it myself! LOL

Depending on where you live the speed bumps are more or less severe.
In the UK you should see some of the new speed bumps - you will 100% need FAL!
Here’s an example…

Nevermind FAL, you need a Dakar for that

Awesome review and always interesting to hear how you see the T stacking up compared to the CGTS.

Ugh, the lack of Cargraphic is killing me but I'm hanging in there for the tune (and valves open mod) at 1k miles!

$16 metal mesh from Amazon and a few zip ties. There is a set that you can buy but I wanted to give this a shot first.

This weekend was the test as I did about 150 miles (with some of those over 55mph *cough*) and they held up just fine.

In fact I had to clean a bunch of debris off them when I got home which means they're doing their job lol

Question 1- Is it just me? Every time I take the T out for drive and park back in my garage, the engine fans are going crazy. Also, get loads of whistle sound after drive. Love that.

Question 2- I’ve always had front plates on my car since cops bothered me in the past in NY/NJ. I really don’t want to put it on my T. Wonder what other folks are doing. Any YAY or NAY on matter?

Our driving club had it's season opener yesterday at Princeton Airport. Nice chance to get out on the taxiway and get some snaps

Glad u had a good time. I almost went to event but my T just got out of PPF prison (ok jail but felt like long term prison sentence) a bit after. Are u crazy regarding Cayman vs 911? Just kidding. I like mid-engine cars a lot but I’m a bit claustrophobic. Going from my E63 sedan, even my 992 feels like a small go cart…the ultimate compliment for a sports car. I haven’t mis-shifted once yet, but I did try once to downshift using the non-existent paddle shifter.

Hah I've done that a couple times having owned a PDK 992 for a year prior to the T
