This is not a T-specific post, but it is all about Porsches, 911s, and most importantly, driving.
I arrived in Germany three days ago. The primary purpose of the trip was to wrap up the acquisition of my new-to-me 7.1 RS and to visit with the 911 ST tribute I'm having built, but it really is about much more than that.
I arrived on the 16th, was picked up at the airport by a friend, and drove straight to AP Car Design. The owner knows the full history of the RS and he has very generous in sharing it with me along with the comprehensive file he has on the car (he's friends with the original owner). AP Car Design specializes in building 964s and 993s through nut and bolt restorations. He also has an incredible personal collection on display at his shop that includes a 911R, 964RS, 993RS, 964 Turbo and various other 993s and 964s. Visiting was a total delight.
We then went to V8 Motorworld and Hotel where we checked out Michael Schumacher's museum (incredible collection of race cars and memorabilia), checked out the various cars that are parked at their storage facility, and had dinner in the open area next to the various cars, some of which were going in and out. The cars are stored in a glass, multi-level building that looks like a kid's Matchbox storage box. A delight for the little kid inside all of us car nuts. I wrapped up my day staying at the hotel that is part of V8 Motorworld where you can park your car in your room. Unfortunately, plans changed and I couldn't pick up my RS on day one (still don't have it) but my friends were very kind setting me up with a 3.2 Carrera for the duration of my trip. I'll be covering appox. 2k miles on it.
The following morning we drove to Belgium for LeMans Classic at Spa. Obviously, a ton of Porsches in attendance and today is the last day. My friends set me up with a media pass which gives me full access to the paddocks. It's been super fun. Yesterday we finally got some sun but the rain didn't stop anyone. It reminded me a little of the Rennsport Reunion vibe with people in attendance mingling among multimillion dollar 917s, 250 GTs etc. and their teams. Just awesome. Tonight after LeMans, I drive out to the Nurburgring where I'll get a few laps of instruction on a 964 Cup and then check off the bucket list item of driving the ring. This was supposed to happen in my RS but I had to rent a car instead and there were no 911s or Porsches available so, I'll be doing it in a sorted Supra with GT4 chassis. Can't wait.
Other parts of the trip include a visit to the museum at Stuttgart, possibly RUF, and a visit with the bodyshop and the engine builder of my ST commission to talk about the car and the last details of the build. After that, I'm off with a group of aircooled guys driving through the Alps to the Concorso d'Eleganza in Lake Como which promises some spectacular cars in attendance. This is half the trip, but the car related one. After Lake Como, I meet up with my family for our annual family trip. We're taking a 10-day cruise from Venice to Barcelona.
Looks like I hit the tire lottery!? Pilot Sports I think I recognize that side wall...
Does the 911 T have adjustable suspension height? My front end looks way high... But then again I forgot I ordered front end lift. It must be up.
For some reason they pushed my dates out by a month for a july 18th delivery but the car looks to be done... Not sure what's going on.
mine finished production a few days ago but I haven’t received that picture. When did yours finish? Thanks.

there is a thread for us. Mine was finished like yours on April 16, was pushed to May 16 and now is pushed again to June 16. No one has figured out why.

Went "full ethos" with the spec :

Did you have the Sport Design tail light option ? I notice the side gill is lit. Based on the configurator Carrera/S dont have this option but GTS (which comes standard with Sport Design tail light have th $170 illuminated side gill).
I was trying to understand if there is a different between the non-GTS vs GTS sport design tail light and based on this thread, it was concluded that the side gilll option only lit during certain operation (i.e braking).
Wilder, you know how to do trips. That's awesome. Did I understand this correctly, a Mezger was acquired on this trip and is being sent home? Enjoy the rest of your time and your family leg.

I was plotting to go to SPA Classic 2024, but I got VVIP pass for Good Woof at Goodwood , so to keep the peace in the family I decided (actually I was told) that we are going to Goodwood.

Today after the last day of LeMans Classic, Google Maps treated me to an hour and a half of twisty back roads from Spa to Nurburgring. Even commuting is an event. Wow, what beautiful country roads and being that I like the cold and rain after living in Vancouver most of my life, I feel right at home.
@Pivot jealous that you guys have access to so much car culture in Europe. Goodwood is in the bucket list too. Hope you enjoyed it if it was this weekend.
@Ceepe I've got a 7.2 GT3 in Mexico where I live half the year and I'm purchasing a 7.1 GT3RS but it will stay and be used here in Germany. I'm also building a 911 ST tribute here in Germany using a 3.2 Carrera.

I just got the picture on Saturday 5/18/2024, but on 5/17/2024 the my.porsche app updated from a 5/16 completion date to saying that my car would not be finished until JUNE 12th
So even though I got this picture, my car is not done according to the app/website.
@Wilder Wow! You're hometeam huh? I don't recall seeing your handle in the past. You're clearly in the rare air of Porsche experience. I absolutely love it. I'm just starting to get into the air cooled stuff. It's time to go back not forward, for me. I possibly should not have purchased this 992 and put the money into an older car. Two Mezgers across an ocean and an air cooled build is about as hot as it gets. Nice job being awesome.
