Freeze date next week on my T build. I decided to keep the build purist and simple, since it's a T and not S or GTS anyway. Did not make any modification requests since the original allocation:

https://configurator.porsche.com/en-...VT6.VW4.WA.Z1S

At $132K, it's probably one of the most lightly-optioned (and lightest in curb weight) T for build-to-order.

Could strip even more off if you really wanted bare bones! Surround seems unnecessary for such a small car. Same for LCA and power steering (and puddle lights). Delete some of those and you can add rear axle steering!

Also respect no modifications since you submitted the build. I was not strong enough.

I thought about that but I find surround camera quite useful in touchless carwash machines and tight strip mall parking lots, where metal latches on the ground in the car wash machines or curbs in the strip mall parking lots are hard to see with side mirrors.

The surround view will save me from some wheel scratches, and it justified keeping that option in for that reason. I also find the LCA useful in my other cars, so it was a keeper.

As for RAS, I understand that it makes the car more nimble at the limits and reduce the turning radius, but for someone who wants to keep the car for 10+ years, it is more complications for alignment and breakage, and takes away the classic 911 steering feel while also adding unsprung weight. Thus, after some consideration, I decided to keep my spec on the T as originally spec'ed.

Thank you for your advice though.

How "classic" does the electric Power steering feel anyway? Real question since this will be my first sports car with an electric rack.

Everyone says its good for an electric, but that doesn't really mean much to me. Interested what others think.

As good as I can fathom it can get and in some respects, better than the real thing.
For a road car, it's weighted perfectly, has the perfect speed, and has zero sloppiness.

I'm coming from some pretty good quick ratio hydraulics, so I am trying not to get my hopes up.

Not sure why you'd be concerned. We're talking about 911s here. With perhaps the 991.1 being the exception, all 911s have a reputation for having excellent steering feel and as far as electric racks are concerned, Porsche makes just about the best in the business. My personal comparison basis includes my 997.2 GT3 and my 997.1 GT3RS, which are reputed to be peak 911 and the last to use hydraulic racks.

That's a pretty strong endorsement considering what you have to compare it to. I wouldn't say I am concerned, just interested in what other people think. Mostly I've just heard variations of "It's good for an electric". Which seems like expectation management type language.

I can't personally claim to know this but many reviewers feel the 992 electric rack is the absolute best in the industry. I wouldn't be surprised.

Have similar questions / concerns... speccing a 992 Carrera T and am on the fence about Rear Axle Steer and Power Steering Plus. Not because of weight or cost, but if this will make the car "worse" in any way?
