I can live with both, but I like manuals in my fun cars.
@Uhu I like manuals for all my cars and there are fewer to chose from, hence my T order. I have a collection of all manual cars. I have rarely enjoyed autos most likely my age they simply don't engage the driver in my opinion.
I agree with the current view on the modern BMW's, I am test driving a new M2 on Monday, but don't think it will hold a candle to my M2 CS F87 which of course is manual.
BMW here in the UK charge extra if you spec a manual new M2.
I will if people are interested report my findings on Monday?
The only autos I have owned is a string of excellent W124 Merc E Class estates when I was bringing up my family, as Merc manuals are awful! The only half decent manual Merc I owned was a 2.3 /16v Cosworth (190) one of the best cars I have owned much better in it's day than a contemporary M3.
All above of course my personal opinion.
Best Devon Racer.

Did your dates get changed? My delivery got pushed out 30 days to March, and build got pushed out a few weeks.

@Devon Racer those Cosworth 190e are something. The 80s, 90s and 00s was the peak of the auto industry.
I agree about manuals but there's something to be said for PDK when you're stuck in traffic.

@Wilder You are right they were though I never drove the 2.5 which might have been a bit faster.
With that car I broke my record leaving at 9.00 pm one year between Christmas and New year returning from My Devon house to Kensington for two days work, 2 hours 15 minutes, there was precious little traffic. A distance in excess of 200 miles. Today it would be I am sure almost a prison custody offence and impossible anyway,
In those days I could normally do the trip in a bit over 3 hours. Whereas now I allow at least four hours so much for progress !! Best Devon Racer,

Yes please, do tell. Haven't driven any M2 CS, just the M2 (I have a picture with all 4 wheels in the air at Pflanzgarten) and the M2 Comp. And the new one. They all feel tame compared to my M3 CS. The new M3/M4 are big and heavy now, chesty engines but too much towards M5 to be of any excitement anymore. Love the new lightweight seats in them, though.

Took the T for a spin during the weekend and managed to get the lady to dance, just a small swing from the hips but it almost correct by itself. It took a damp and slippery surface though, to make it happen.

I love those personal rallies where you race against time. I've done two long ones: one from San Diego to Vancouver twenty years ago in an M3 and last month in the T from near my home in Puerto Vallarta to Tucson on the way to Rennsport Reunion. Luckily, "somewhere in Mexico" is a thing and speed violations are only a slap on the wrist. You have to luck out with thin traffic though.

I have an F80 M3CS, and have owned an F87 M2 in the past. Surprisingly the larger CS is much more engaging than the smaller M2 Competition. Whatever BMW did to the CS, they need to be doing to their serial production M cars. Of course the incoming 911 will be in a different level dynamically, but I do love my 4-Door bruiser and will try to keep it as long as I can.

Once BMW got rid of manuals, and then the DCT, and then added 300-400lbs to the G8X series cars, I have lost interest in the brand as a sports car brand. To me now they’re all about X3,4,5,6,7’s.

The 992 T feels like a stiletto compared to the flail the M3 CS is. You get out of the T, start driving the CS and wonder where the front end has gone. Maybe running away from the rear end that tries to have its own mind, especially when on cold Cup2s and more than a few mm of throttle is used.
But then, you are bathed in torque and acquire speed much more readily. Until 155-160 mph, after that the T seems to cut better through the air and feels faster. Also, you sit IN the T and ON the CS. I feel like I am driving a SUV, took me ages to accommodate with the higher driving position in the CS (coming from a Z4, where you scrape the road with your ***, so low is the driving position).
Oh, and the CS is really vocal. Warmed up nicely, toasty even and it will bark on gear changes and fart deeply on over runs. Hooligan car. The nearest that comes to it from the modern Porkers is the 991.1 GTS.

Yeah, the current M2/M3/M4 are about 1750-1850 kg, more than 200-250 kg heavier compared to the M3 CS. Even the M2 CS is near the M3 CS weight, despite being a manual car.
And you feel the weight of the new ones.

Yeah my production pushed out by 2 days and delivery by 11. I've noticed it bounce back and forth a couple of times.
