What did I buy my 992 today? A stablemate for my new wife to drive. It will come in about 8 mos they tell us. Her 2016 Audi A7 is 7 years old with 90K miles and the tech isn't so great on it anymore so we ordered a 2023 BMW M5 Competition for her . We looked at Taycans (we aren't ready or interesting in going electric yet), Panameras (too long and eggy looking for our eye, not our style), E63S's - she wasn't impressed with the rear looks, audi S7 and RS7 - she didn't like what they did to the rear end, etc, etc. She didn't want an SUV, it's just us.
^ Dang, that's a HUGE upgrade for your wife, and she's got good taste.
That M5C is going to give your Turbo S a run for the money, are you sure you want your wife to potentially beat/match you in drag races?
Seriously though, I'm jealous. My wife is SO not into cars. I have my fast Bimmer and my supercar, and our third car is a 2015 Toyota Sienna which she drives and I really want to upgrade it, but she is not interested in getting a new car
Ordered GT3 Side Skirts, Alcantara Brush from Obsessed Garage, and OEM metal GTS logo for the rear (ordered the car debadged). Also took a few mins to precut matte black vinyl to stick on the visors to hide the airbag warning, using my GF’s Cricut machine, works perfect. I did it on my previous 911.
Here we go. The longer I have that spoiler the more I like it. It gives the rear that little extra edge and is actually a small duckbill lip angling up vs the very small TA style strips. For now I keep it CF and add maybe CF mirrors to complete the look.
PS: Small detail - the spoiler wraps entirely around the lower edge of the OEM panel and gives it a nice finished look that way. When closed, there is no gap (aka remains of the OEM spoiler panel left) between the CF and lightbar below.
Got the sport cats back in August, finally got them installed yesterday. Like the OAP's on my GT4, the cats unlock just the right amount of "bark" without being PO the neighbors loud.
Props to the team at Extreme Velocity Motorsports for another exemplary job well done.
In our house, we refer to our cars as "race car, chase car." My wife drives the "chase car", a Tesla Model Y. I'll be picking up the "race car" in Zuffenhasen next April. Happy spouse, happy house!

Your wife is awesome - she keeps you from becoming a spoiled brat.

Its been discussed at length in the past, but I think the cats don’t change the sound of the car by much. Their greatest benefit is performance gains, especially paired with a tune

I don't agree at all, and have measurements to back that up. Europipe sport cats are 2-3dB louder by most of my measurements from within the car. Remember that 6dB is roughly doubling in volume, so they are a decent sound increase. The tone does not change much though - that comes from the actual exhaust, and if you're looking for a more exotic tone you'll need to consider a titanium system like those from Akrapovic, or even an Inconel system from Kline if your pockets are particularly deep.

They do indeed change the level of the sound. I found the Soul sport cats to increase volume by about 15-20%. I actually have a set of used Soul Sport cats for sale.
^ 10-15% has been the consensus. I ran with just sports cats for over a year. I felt the sound gains were meh for what you pay for.
What I learned was, after the tune I got and the Soul valveless exhaust + sport cats, those mods REALLY showed their value. On 93 octane my car made MAD power. And the sound was ridiculous.
Having had both set ups, in my opinion if your budget is limited and you are going to do one mod, and you are going for a sound boost, a catback exhaust is the better buy. If you are concerned more about power, then sport cats and a tune are the way to go.
Question: on a base (I have a 911T on order) what's the simplest or first mod one could/should do to get a little more sound out of the factory sport exhaust? Maybe a valve controller? Or just cats?
