What did I buy my 992 today? A stablemate for my new wife to drive. It will come in about 8 mos they tell us. Her 2016 Audi A7 is 7 years old with 90K miles and the tech isn't so great on it anymore so we ordered a 2023 BMW M5 Competition for her . We looked at Taycans (we aren't ready or interesting in going electric yet), Panameras (too long and eggy looking for our eye, not our style), E63S's - she wasn't impressed with the rear looks, audi S7 and RS7 - she didn't like what they did to the rear end, etc, etc. She didn't want an SUV, it's just us.
I loved my M5C. A serious speed machine with great luxury and tech. She will love it!
Question: on a base (I have a 911T on order) what's the simplest or first mod one could/should do to get a little more sound out of the factory sport exhaust? Maybe a valve controller? Or just cats?
If it is a 7spd MT, consider a Numeric shifter which was my first mod. Exhaust will be my next mod…..probably Akra slip on.

Thanks, but I was asking about exhaust primarily. I looked into the Numeric for my CGTS. REALLY nice looking unit. I found a GT4 shifter used on here for $100 and put that in instead or until I decided to get the Numeric. So far, I really like the lower/shorter shifter. I suspect the 911T unit will be the same, saving me $700 for the numeric. Which I guess will have to be put towards that crazy expensive Akra!
My local shop (car audio innovations - Roseville, CA) installed an Audison 10” powered sub to my standard non-Bose sound system. Strapped down to the latch bars with Velcro straps for easy track day removal. Bass **** mounted under the steering column. Just the punch I needed. No plans to upgrade anything else.
also, for those who say the base system sounds terrible… I’d agree it did sound horrible when I first took delivery and was thinking I’d have to replace all the speakers and add an amp. After 1200 miles the speakers were broken in and sounded way better but still lacked bass. Got it now

I don't know if there are exhaust valve controllers for our cars, but I got an M Engineering tune which gave me the option to force exhaust valves open 100% whenever the car is in sport and sport+ or when I push the exhaust toggle switch. That made a GIANT difference in exhaust sound. I was super disappointed with the stock PSE and, to my ears, I could hardly hear any difference at all between any modes. With exhaust valve forced open, the sound difference btw normal and sport and sport+ is easily 2x more noticeable than stock. Additionally, with exhausts valves open, there is a vibration in the car that is slightly noticeable which makes the car feel more analog and sportier. The stock PSE also doesn't drone on the fwy w/ valves fully open. Not sure why Porsche made the PSE so subtle but it truly sucked for the amount they charge. It still doesn't sound great, but at least it's decent.
If you can find an exhaust valve controller, that would be a good mod to get if you don't want to tune your car. If you actually want to tune the car, M Engineering makes the best one IMO. The options they provide, the responsiveness and customer service and the seamless OEM+ quality and feel of their tunes and reversibility back to stock at home in less than 10 minutes, are well worth the price.
Nothing fancy. Bought the clear turn-signal reflectors, the radiator grill/screen/whatever they're called things, and some new tire shine to try. Took advantage of Black Friday sale and free shipping for over $150.00 good until the end of the month if I remember right. Hope to get a mechanic to install it all in Atlanta when I pick up the car. Fingers crossed.
You really really can do the install yourself... plenty of youtube videos on removing the amber indicators (no tools needed) as well as grill protector videos... just saying
Bought an Autel MK 808 S OBD 2 scanner on Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale for $353 plus free shipping. Normal sales price is $474. Available at sales price for limited time at www.autelmffg.com or Amazon. I think seller is a Chinese company. See threads by Blue Highways and Westsiderkg if you want more info.
Just got the Aerokit installed on my 992 Carrera (did the top in Carbon Fiber)! it came out amazing
Looks great! Did you happen to buy the car from a fellow RL'er or just coincidence it looks like a car that was for sale a little while ago? Either way - very nice.
It was my car that I just listed for sale on the marketplace. I was waiting to complete the Aerokit as a lot of folks wanted to Aerokit completed before considering it. Thanks for the note.
