They’re not wrong. It’s definitely either supply chain issues, parts availability, labor shortages, or…other reasons. 🤣

hopefully Monday we will get the step 8 update!
Out of curiosity, why do you think it will update on Monday?

Mine has not updated yet, so not sure if I’m on the boat or not.

I don’t think the hack to see what ship we are on works until after TYD is updated, so I guess we keep playing the waiting game to see if Step 8 updates.

If anyone here sees TYD update to Step 8, and can confirm they are on Siem Confucius, please update the group so we know that updates are happening.

The only accomplishment here is solidifying that Porsche still doesn’t care, or feel like they need to offer any explanation, and really isn’t taking ownership.

I’d be more annoyed after this letter than before. Basically they used a horribly written form letter to tell you what you could have guessed on your own.

Maybe post it on social media and see if you can get someone higher up to take notice and actually look into what’s going on?

As others have said, a canned generic response, which is more insulting than no response at all imho. I’d post it in the Porsche IG page (porschemotorsportnorthamerica, as a comment under their most recent post, asking about their customer service). Or on Twitter @PorscheRacesNA.

By the way, you covered your name up top, but they also thanked you using your last name down at the bottom.

Do their manufacturing plants operate during weekends?

Has anyone here gotten their pictures on weekend days?

2 reasons, I’ve never got an update on a weekend and my updates have come 3-4 days after what happens in real time. I’m looking for step 8 on Monday or Tuesday. I’m an optimist.

I do think they work weekends, but all 4 of my pictures showed up at the same time, and it was a weekday.

My first pic came on a Saturday morning. See post 13447.

I have seen on another thread “shipping schedule for emden” that TYD has been updated with siem confusious” left port step 8. I’m keeping up hope that updates are staged as they roll out? 🙏🏼🙏🏼

TYD is a great idea in theory but terrible in practice. From the time of my freeze date, my SA told me it would be late May, early June for delivery. Two days ago, my car arrived at port and as of last week, my ETA is June 6th. If TYD didn't exist and all I had to go on was the dates provided by my SA, this would've been a flawless experience with a car delivered on time. Instead, me and everyone on this board has experienced nothing but frustration because we can't understand why the pictures are taking so long, then why the car is taking so long to get to Emden, then why it's just sitting at Emden, then why the ship is taking so long, then why the car is just sitting at port doing nothing... we don't understand because it's not our business and we don't understand everything that goes into every stage. Literally the only time TYD has been a happy experience for me and seemingly everyone on this board is when we got the pics, despite the fact that, for me at least, my car is set to arrive on time.

Agreed. The best thing about it is the pictures from production. For the rest it serves as a distraction that either builds anticipation or frustration. Anticipation as things generally go as planned, frustration when there are long delays with no explanation. So far I've been pretty much on schedule with some small changes here and there. I'm at Emden now waiting for a ship and through some basic sleuthing, I think I'll get a ride to Houston on Sunshine Ace in a few weeks. The TYD dates I have along with my dealer's predicted dates line up with the schedule I've estimated for Sunshine. I do think TYD timeliness of updates could be improved and I find it odd that TYD and my dealer show different dates. It would be great it TYD could give a little more intel on the delays when they happen. But I'd bet that the logistics systems for Porsche aren't well integrated with many things post-build being scheduled sequentially (ie, only after this happens does the next scheduling process start).

Overall there's lots of opportunity to improve but I'd rather have the flawed system than nothing at all. If it gives you heartburn and you don't like it, turn off updates, etc etc. Just go back to the old approach of bugging your SA.

I’m not having that same experience with TYD. Yes it’s inaccurate but I still enjoy it. I know that the scheduling is imperfect and things always pop up. It’s still been a fun experience especially getting the photos. I think they could take all the guesswork out of where the car is by putting a cheap gps tracker on every car. I know they don’t work on the boat but you’d know when it boarded and got off the ship. I’m certain that if Porsche wants to improve upon TYD they will.

Thank you for the info, can you provide a link to that thread?

I don’t know if it’s just me, but the search feature seems totally useless - I don’t have any luck finding anything that I search for.

It’s in the GT3 forum.
