FWIW my dealer told me that all cars that are going to both PECs are actually delivered to Houston. From there they go either to LA or Atlanta based on their orders. I've never verified this, but that's what I was told.

You are thinking way in advance. I ordered a 2022 Targa 4 in April, and am set for delivery in October. My dealer is in PA. I am in SoCal and doing PEC-LA delivery. Here are my thoughts on your comments:
- If you can get it for MSRP, that's a great deal. I'm 1k below and am very fortunate. If you can find an allocation now (a big if), it's likely well over sticker
- If you are simply on a waiting list, you're going to be lucky to have delivery by the end of 2022.
- When you say "purchase," do you mean delivery? If so, then you'll need to order 4 - 6 months in advance. Keep in mind, my order was placed with a confirmed allocation number and TYD tracking in April. I'm waiting 6 months for delivery. I won't be buying the car until delivery. I did put down a $5k refundable deposit.
- My advice is to call far and wide and try to get an allocation. If one is offered to you at a price you're willing to pay, take it immediately, regardless of whether you're "ready." You'll have a few months to get ready. The 911 is in super high demand, greatly outstripping production capacity. With the Targa, it's even more difficult to find. I found an allocation by luck. It was 3 months before I was ready to take the plunge, but I ordered it anyway, knowing I wouldn't likely find another Targa 4 allocation at an MSRP price. I was right.
Is it worth paying to get on a waiting list? (I am starting to hit the allocation issue you mention, my long lead timeline may mean it's too far out to get an allocation).

My Targa 4 is being delivered to PEC-LA, and both TYD and the dealer's internal info show it's going through the Benecia, CA port of entry.

Maybe not. I know someone on this board who is from California, did PEC-LA delivery, and his car came from Houston too. And he told me the same thing that you note -- all PEC cars come through Houston. I guess I will learn soon, as my car is due to hit the dock in Emden in a couple of weeks.

With regards to PECLA deliveries, one thing to keep in mind will be the "backlog" for deliveries if there is a significant delay due to EPA or CARB delays. If memory serves me correctly, PECLA only allows 1 delivery per day and only 3-4 days a week. My '21 arrived in Benicia in early January but PECLA could not offer a delivery experience until March because they were playing catchup for all the '21 vehicles waiting since September from the EPA/CARB. PECLA will not allow you to actually "schedule" a delivery until your vehicle is on a boat despite what TYD is predicting.

Does this work for all Porsche models? Ordered a 2021 Taycan and it completed production 7/16/2021, and I see (and watched) the factory video), but do not see a picture of my car like the 992 orders. Thanks

While we wait, I have a question.
The visors in my Boxster had a flip up door to cover the mirror. This design was terrible as the plastic door was so poorly designed the hinge points would easily break. It was a CPO, so I probably got them replaced 4 or 5 times. Had to replace the whole visor. This after making a huge effort to be gentle with them. My Macan has slide doors over the visor mirror. Much better design.
So, what is the design of the visors in the 911? I cannot really see in the configurator. If they are the flip, is anyone else having issues?
