Thank you for posting a link to the build, and not littering this thread with crappy configurator images. Can't wait for more real photos.

Nice build. Red + Agate is a sweet combo.

Another newbie here, been hanging around trying to get ideas the last couple of months.

I have about 3 weeks left until the lock down/freeze point of my configuration. This is my first 911 but owned a couple of macan GTS's and three cayman s previously.
The main thing i cant decide on is the alcantara, i have never had a car with it. I'm pretty happy with the rest of the build but concerned on wear on the alcantara (will be used daily) but love the look & feel of it.

My build is below:

Any comments good/bad/ugly appreciated!

Anyone, get any updates from Porsche NA or their SA about actual delivery dates.
My 992 is in port preparing to depart. SA says date is now September 7.

I read on the forum, no personal experience that wheels in satin are prone to scratches??

Default Bishu Highway Delay

I'm sure many of you have a 992 on the Vehicle Carrier Ship "Bishu Highway" which left the port of Emden about August 2nd.
It was scheduled to get to the port of Davisville, Rhode Island on Sunday, August 11th.
Well it got to the coast of Rhode Island on Sunday but now it is just sitting off the coast https://www.vesselfinder.com/?imo=9409340
It was then scheduled to get to port on Wednesday, August 14th but as of this afternoon the ETA is Friday, August 16th
After having my 992 delivery moved from early July to early September ( or late September) I guess
I should not be that surprised

I wouldn’t necessarily assume that the delay in B. Highway getting to the dock is the result or cause of delaying the 992 release date. Porsche is still shipping 991’s as well as all their other models. Emden is the port that all VW products ship from and photos of the staging area there show huge numbers of VW’s, Audi’s and Porsche’s typically in the que. must be a dock capacity issue.

My 992 S is on Siem Cicero which left the dock in Emden today and is scheduled to arrive Davisville on 8/22, then on to Jacksonville where mine unloads. Keep us posted if you find anything out. Hard to believe that there still isn’t anything definitive from Porsche.

Nice looking build! I've had alcantara on my seats, roof, and doors of my GT4 for the last 4 yrs and 26K miles. Absolutely no issues with those areas regarding wear, even the seats. For the steering wheel however, I chose to go leather.

Unless you wear driving gloves or are religious about cleaning the wheel with specific cleaners every few months, the material will mat down and lose the soft and unique feel. I've seen this happen on other GT cars with the alcantara wheels. It also depends on how sweaty your hands are.

The black satin on my GT4 wheels were not prone to scratches but very prone to chips even after only 10K miles. My working theory is that the design of the GT4 wheels with flat vanes basically perpendicular to the air flow made those area a chip magnet. The lack of a hard clearcoat finish normally seen on painted wheels also didn't help.

How do you figure out which ship is carrying your vehicle from Emden?

Porsche assigns a ship which shows up on the tracking tool that the dealers have access to. My SA let me know as soon as that happened which was a few days after my car arrived in Emden. Your SA can find that out for you in a couple of minutes.

You can track the ship at vesselfinder.com, or marinetraffic.com

Default early/mid Sept delivery looking bleak

August 15 CARB/EPA approvals out. No 992. My dealer says early/mid Sept delivery. Talk about optimistic.
We will be lucky for Oct delivery.

Meanwhile Porsche North America is mute except for ads which state "early fall".
Customer concern for delivery is not a Porsche concern. Such arrogance.
