Michael, the day you finally get to set eyes on your new and first Porsche will be one of the most memorable days ever. 3 years ago I took delivery at the Atlanta Porsche Delivery Centre of my second 911 - this time is was a 991-2. It was their 35th delivery. I took my adult son along with me and we also got to do a few laps around their test circuit with a professional instructor. I have to say the unveiling of the car and the entire experience is a memory both my son and I will cherish forever. We talk about it often. Hopefully I will soon take delivery of my 992 C2S Cabriolet, and even though this is a magnificent vehicle - I don’t think I will be as excited as I was that day in Atlanta. I would strongly urge you if at all possible to do the same - and take delivery either in California or Atlanta. Good luck, welcome and enjoy !

Very nice Michael. Congratulations! I have specked out my C4S too and placed a deposit but have not released the order till the manual transmission is available. So I have to wait till Q2 2020, which is not a problem but based on the delays I am hearing for those who have already ordered theirs hope it does not slide further to the right.

In any case hope you get your car by Christmas that will be really worth it!

The best I have ever seen is one month from certification to printing VECI labels and all the other paperwork that is required to be packaged with a vehicle.

At this point, I think the EPA's estimate of a late October as the earliest timing is looking more credible than what Porsche is telling my dealer to forward to me. I guess we will all know in a few weeks who has the more accurate story. The vehicles will either start shipping from the port storage sites or not. Good luck to all of us that are waiting.
I check the CARB approval site every few days (I am in one of the 14 CARB states vs EPA states which typically have slightly easier/quicker certification) and a vast number of makes and models were approved on 26July but nothing for Porsche. This is the link: https://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/onroad.../2020/2020.php (best to sort by Modified date column) and typically the CARB website posts new vehicle approvals every 2 week or so.

As regards timing from certification to in the customers hands: on June 6th VW/Audi had their 2020 Audi R8 CARB approved and the first one was on sale at Riverside Audi CA just 8 days later (with a $20k markup) so your one month delay may be pessimistic. My dealership is quoting 1-2 weeks after CARB approval to get a vehicle into the customers hands.

But if the 992 is not CARB approved on 10 Aug or on 24 Aug batches (approx dates) I agree we will not be getting our cars for 4 Sep (Launch Date), and even 13 Sep (Expected Deliveries) looks unlikely...

How long does CARB take? Or is it a black box?

Pelucidor - You bring up a good point for a simple very low volume CARB certification with short shipping distances. Looking at the options packages, I think the Carrera will be far more complicated, but they could start with the 4S with Sport Chrono and get those going and then work backwards for the lower content versions and the 2S. The lower content ones are easier once the 4S is in place.

Here is wishing us all luck in quickly getting what we ordered.

My dealer (Gold Coast Porsche) just called. He confirmed my car (992 CS) will be available 9/6/19. FINALLY. I looked on the CARB website, https://ww3.arb.ca.gov/msprog/onroad.../2020/2020.php, ( It's marked "NEW".) and noticed the Porsche Executive Order was signed off on July29, 2019.

Isn't that for the Macan? See the last last line of the last page of that document.

Yes, you are correct...my mistake. Apologies...I didn't read all the way to the bottom. Nevertheless, my dealer called back again about 15 minutes ago and said that my CS will be at the dealer 9/6/2019. I am assuming that the U.S. Certification process has been approved if it can leave port. Am I assuming incorrectly as I have never had this issue before.

So my dealer today said that September 12 would be the launch date in Canada. The viewing party invitations will go out soon. My car is also on route to port and on time.

Default Overdue update

So my pickup was on the 4th of July... 2 months later than originally expected, but the wait has been forgotten.

Some quick pics I took on the day.

The rear of this car really is an enigma. From some angles it looks disproportionate (below) but from others (like above post) avant garde and quite beautiful.

Thanks... in my humble opinion... the pictures I posted above do not do it any justice at all. Especially the rear, which I think is the best looking rear of any car on the road today. I reckon Porsche have become very lazy with the front and should have done a little more, but the rear is a home run.

Oh, by the way, @JHesketh part of the reason why your blue picture looks "disproportionate" is the reason why I elected NOT to take the sports exhaust, I feel the rear looks a lot better with the twin pipes - my car was the first at the dealership without PSE and every single salesman at Porsche came and told me that it looks much better than they expected and would think twice about pushing the "no-brainer" option of sports exhaust to every buyer from now on.
