PCCB very dusty!
#241
will switching to the 991 pads have any accelerated or artificial wear on the 992 PCCB rotors?

My source from inside Porsche says that there is nothing that indicates the rotor material changed. Just the pads.
That being said I don’t have any of that in writing and it’s definitely something to think about.

An unfortunate cost adder on top of the PCCB option just to get what you thought you were getting, but great news nonetheless!

So do I ask my dealer to do this before I take delivery, or will they not because it;s not the correct replacement part? I have a good tech locally, but figure it would be easier to have the dealer do it while the car was there.

Wonder if PAG would ever raise a warranty issue based on 991 pad usage.

Essentially Porsche sold a 10k brake system, that doesn’t work. They will have to do something.

Being first with new model aways has some quirks, be honest most get PCCB’s so no freaking dust …..well I do and wouldn’t be happy. All so wouldn’t be rigging up a solution Porsche needs to fix or set expectations as they had to know.

Agree with all of this and i fully intend to take this up with Porsche. The time and $$ I've spent figuring this out was so we knew what we were dealing with and are educated. There is no way the PCCB system is performing to the expectations set by previous generations and I do believe it should be addressed one way or another. In no circumstance is it OK to have to "downgrade" a braking system to a previous generation for $1500-$2000 to get the performance you expect.

Not to mention they moved directly to the "N" pad which isn't required until 2025.

In my mind, PCCB has been for:
1) No dust (no longer the case)
2) Virtually non existent maintenance for street driving, because the pads and rotors last forever. (dust means this is no longer the case for pads)
3) Fade/deposit free under enthusiastic use (anecdotes that this is no longer the case on the extreme end of things)
has not been for
1) Serious track use where it's common to go through pads in 4-6days, and a set of rotors every season or more often.
