I think they look smaller compared to a 991.2 cause of the 21in wheel.

This is what a 991.2 20" rear looks like:

I wanted to close the loop on this. I installed the 991 pads, with new wear sensors and finally had time to give the car a good thrashing.

I’m happy to report the brake judder is totally gone. The brakes are so much better with the new pads. As for the brake dust, too early to tell. Totally fine when I returned, light dust but that is to be expected with new pads.

I am so glad I can put this behind me and start enjoying the car again.

Can you repeat the final solution?

Part number?

Absolutely. There are often other part numbers that fit or are identical - I ordered from suncoast and they do substitute equivalents at times.

Front Pads 99135194980

Rear Pads 99135294980

Front and Rear sensors
part numbers are all over the place - several versions fit

Awesome! My dealer is swapping my pads this week. (I’m paying for now but requesting credit in some form)

Lemme know how that goes! I need to get them to swap to SRF too.

Really pleased you found a fix - I feel more confident to spec PCCB now - thanks for all the groundwork 🙏

Are those 992 pads due to change to meet new regs?

Then what?

Anybody chasing Porsche to explain and resolve (if anything to resolve, they don't promise no brake dust)

In another thread I started in the 991 forum, someone mentioned that 991 PCCB pads with part number including 944 (track) and 949 (street) are different. But I haven't been able to confirm with Porsche yet. Nor do I know what the actual difference is. When my car was relatively new, something weird happened to the rotors after my very first track day with it. After my track day, and after washing the car a few days later, the PCCB rotors turned green. A strange green substance sort of seeped out of the cross-drilled vent holes like a weird fungus. Nobody at my dealership had ever seen it before. But if my car was shipped with the track pads that have a higher level of copper, maybe that's why... maybe the copper pad material on my rotors oxidized after the wash. Once I do a brake pad change, I'll know for sure since I'll be able to see what pads came on the car.

I am quite confident as the miles roll on the conclusion will be that these pads just suck.
I agree with you the pads on the 992 Gt 3 aren't up to the standards set by previous cars. I am a track rat and I was at the track for the first time and the brakes were an issue. I could not trail brake without the rears braking too hard. I could not get the car to trail brake at all as previous Gt 3's with stock pads. I will be changing to race pads this week. Thanks for all your work on discovering the issues. I hope PCNA is listening.

Groer's a good nut!
Brave and usually spot on. I'm grateful to him sure. Will be changing the pads from the get go.

Always good to hear from others that have the same experience and I'm not goin crazy. All of the parts are basically the same except for the pads... The car is miles better with 991 pads. I was so detached from the car after these issues arose. Didn't enjoy it because I expect perfection from a GT car and it was just a major letdown. With the 991 pads, which, with sensors cost me $1300 (self installed) the car and I are back in sync. It seems crazy that some will be in it for $2000-$2500 with dealership costs to get the brakes up to snuff. It truly sucks and is a major disappointment. It's the only time in all the 12 Porsches I've owned since 2014 that I feel that they really dropped the ball and let us down. I was on the GT3 Action group that met with Walliser at PCNA about the engine issues and came up with the warranty extension. I really don't know how far this should be pushed but it just doesn't seem right.

Mine GT3 lock date is in May 2022 so I this thread is important! GT3 will be the first PCCB car for me so I hope this issue will be resolve by May

I would discuss the pad issue with your dealer ahead of the lock date. The issue is resolved, it just takes 991 pads. Given the state of the world, you should have them secure the pads well ahead of time as there is some "smoke" in the part number prefix that would indicate Porsche is phasing out the old 991 pads in favor of the 2025 low copper pads. All of the brake parts are converting to a "9GT" prefix as opposed to "991" - even parts that are backwards compatible to 991 (brake wear sensors are a good example). It just seems they are consolidating all of the GT brake parts into one place under the 9GT prefix. With the 991 pads the car is an absolute joy to drive. You are going to have the same problem with steels, only worse. The steels also have low copper pads and unacceptable performance out of the show room. There is another thread on here from the steel owners. It may be worse, as they are having major heat issues that seriously degrade braking performance. Amazing how important copper is to heat dissipation and overall performance.

The key is finding pads with A20 / A21 labeling - the N20 / N21 pads are the OEM pads that have low copper and sucky performance.
