no. The 992 GT3 part number starts with 9GT. I can only assume that means they are a GT specific part.

Honestly with the 991 pads I am back to “extremely satisfied” with the PCCB brakes . If I had a pccb car coming and wanted to stick with OEM I’d go ahead and lock a set of those down. We don’t know if that compound will remain in production.

Ok - to share what I am experiencing, I just took two quick videos.

The first one (especially at the 5 second mark) demonstrates the "judder" I experience. There are three more instances in this video demonstrating it, but the engine noise makes it a little less audible.

The second video, I pressed hard enough to engage ABS - so you can hear the difference. There are two times I did this (the 3 second mark and the 14 second mark). This was then followed by another time where I didn't press down hard and got the judder effect.

When ABS was engaged the first time, you can hear two separate squeals when the brakes released and reengaged. The second time, it sounds like there are four.

Video 1 - Showing judder (attached)

Video 2 - ABS followed by judder (attached)

(sorry about any shakiness, this was done with my phone...

So, it is a crunching sound and not a vibration thru the steering wheel or brake pedal?

I had issues on my F80 M3 with steel brakes, but it wasn't a noise, it was a vibration thru the steering wheel and brake pedal that felt like a warped rotor.

The feeling is the brakes aren't holding - I'll have to recreate it to see how much feeling comes through the steering wheel. I would say I feel it in the pedal mainly.

I refer to it as the "crunchies" because it feels like the pedal moving up and down slightly like I am grinding something with my foot - like acorn shells that are crunching.

That sounds awful ………..time to get Porsche to address has anyone taken the car into the service department? I would caution making your own changes, and open yourselves up to personal liability.

I personally would never run aftermarket pads on PCCB systems given the cost of rotors. If the cost of rotors were like what they cost in other brands, maybe but Porsche's CCB rotors cost much more than Brembos. I think I'd be tempted to just go with iron discs this time around.

I've noted the issues with my service advisor. Will be following up to see what they can do.

Please share what they come up with. Even though I have not yet seen any juddering or brake dust issues yet (no track time so far but some spirited driving in the Ozarks last week), I will reach out to my service advisor at Porsche North Houston about this as well.

The “crunching” is a good description of it and it’s obvious when it happens. Felt through the pedal and nowhere else - brakes don’t have the bite you expect when this is occurring. I believe the problem worsens as the dust builds.

This is so unexpected for a car that is otherwise perfect. Porsche needs to do something.

My online PET search shows a slightly differing part # for 2018/19 911GT3 (and even 2015) with PCCB @sgroer

991.351.949.81 Front
991.352.949.80 Rears

Curious - Are those in the pic your new pads from Suncoast?

I think the pads posted by @sgroer might have motorsports part numbers and the above are correct.

Since the issues seem inconsistent, and the cost is about $1500 for new pads plus labor, is it worth swapping out on delivery or seeing if this gets resolved by PCNA? I live in a place with winters, so my car will not be out much until the spring anyway, so maybe Porsche will get this sorted out by then.

I am curious if Porsche will do anything. They won't care about excess dust on street use, so IMO it will depend on whether judder is found to be the brake system underperforming and/or creating a dangerous result. They will likely just sell the track pad for those that track - no campaign expense and in fact additional $$

One would think the 991 pads have to be made available to GT3 owners I would think through some transition period beyond 2022 when the CA rule becomes effective....

Silly question - but are there any owners of a 992 GT3 w/ PCCB that have absolutely no brake dust and are scratching their heads at this thread?

My build locks in a couple of weeks and I still can’t determine if this is a handful of outliers and the majority aren’t seeing dust or this is status quo.

As I posted earlier, I did a 2100 mile driving trip that included 5 days of spirited driving in the Ozark Mountains of northern Arkansas. I did not have any brake dust nor did I experience any juddering.

Are you able to brake just to the point of engaging ABS without any juddering?

For me, it didn’t require “spirited” driving. A very firm application of the brakes causes it.

Who knows, maybe it is a bad batch of pads.
