Thank you for turning the picture 90 degrees Abe. I got no friggen idea on the turns on that car. I had just driven a Boxster-GTS down the same twisty roads into downtown Monaco, a day before. The old Porsche has to have some very skinny front tires, offset inside to naviagte those roads. But it was very cool to see.

Sigh. Patek is my favorite. I own 14 of them. None more than my last car though so there's that at least. The GM at my delaership just emailed me. He just submitted a GTS allocation for PTS. Fingers crossed. Oh and no one is 'good' at gambling sctanton52. House always wins. But is is fun to try a couple times a year.

Picked up my C2 991.2 yesterday night and drove it back from Monterey to the Bay area in a massive rain storm Not the ideal first drive with flooded roads but oh well, too excited not to pick it up. It is a car the dealer had on the lot and was very close to the "ideal" spec I had. Given that this is my first 911 I was not sure my "ideal" spec is ideal any so we will see how it goes.

I will snap pictures when the weather clears.....

Spec below

EKG - Carbon Fiber Interior Package i.c.w. Leather Interior
QR5 - Sport Chrono Package
P06 - Power Sport Seats (14-way) with Memory Package
176 - Sport Exhaust System
250 - Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK)
581 - Luggage net in passenger footwell
651 - Electric slide/tilt sunroof
9VL - BOSE® Surround Sound System
XSX - Seat belts in Guards Red
427 - 20" Carrera Classic Wheels
498 - Deletion of Model Designation
BASE - 911 Carrera
BM - Leather Interior in Black/Bordeaux Red
P3E - Premium Package Plus i.c.w. Power Sport Seats (14-way)
583 - Smoking package

Yes Congratuations to LionelB, nice car. At least you don't have to shovel the rain, more snow forecast here this week.

Good news on the GTS release, wonder when then are actually coming over to this side of the pond. I have driven a few GTS rentals in Europe, both 991.1 and 981, seats where always black, all with GTS stitching in the headrest. The wheels where always black with 5 lug on the 981 and CLs on the 991. I am not sure if that was all coincidence or thats what ya get with a GTS. Body colors varied, but the 'soft-tops' were also always black.

Ya I only do the Gambling thing if I am at one of the big fancy casinos, Like Monaco, Vegas, or Macau. Which is maybe once a year at most. I set a loss limit and just switch to people watching once I reach it. 14 Pateks, wow that is a nice collection, between the wife and myself, we have 4 'nice' watches, Cartier, Chopard, Brietling, and Rolex. Apple Watch 42mm SS, is currently my DW, the wife tends not to wear a daily watch, just uses her cell, or car clocks.

Congrats LionelB! Looking forward to read your first impressions, especially in regards to the power of the base model (that's what I'm getting too).

Finally got my allocation with a February/March build and late April arrival at the dealer!
After trying a few at the dealer, I opted for the SC, not the SE. Listened to both at the dealer and the standard exhaust on the S models in Sport or Sport + was enough sound for me and I really like the look of the quad exhaust.

I opted for the 18 way seats not the 14 way. My Cayenne has the 14 way and they are good, just sitting in the 18 way is a huge improvement over the 14 way. But I doubt I will use all the bolsters to their potential. I am also not sold on the back plastic shell, but not going to upgrade to leather back there. I'll sit in it one more time next week when I give my deposit just in case...

I also flip/flopped on the rims, but I don't see many of the 20" turbo wheels out there so something a little different.

I threw the Guards Red sport chronos dial in to bring some more color unity into the cabin, any thoughts on this?
Here is my build, I lock in next week. Anything I am really missing? I do like the sport design mirrors with the gloss black lower trim but figured that is an easy custom job later at a body shop.

Lovely. My thoughts (assuming US build):
1. Delete Power Steering Plus.
2. Get Premium Package Plus - adds ventilated seats, keyless entry and LED lights (if I'm reading correctly and it's all separate?).
3. Those Turbo wheels are a PIA to clean. Hated them on my TT.
4. If you're doing all that deviated stitching, I would add steering column casing in leather with matching deviated stitching. It adds a nice look of continuity with the upper dash IMO. I had it on my Espresso/Cognac TT and really liked the look.
5. Sport design mirrors don't power fold - that's a deal breaker for me.
Good luck! Should be great.

Nice build 2011Cayenne,

I do agree with Keadog on his #1 and #4.

I use a set of 'Wheel Woollies' to help keep all my wheels clean. Various sized/shaped soft wool brushes, no splash back in the face from the bristles of 'normal' wheel brushes.

The sport mirrors do fold, but only with hand power. I do not need the power fold very often, so I just live with it.

I see the German First Aid Kit, which is OK, but what do you do if you need to aid an American?

thanks guys, I have no idea why they have German First Aid Kit in there..I didn't spec it I assume it must be something they added by accident?

For the Sport Design mirrors: I currently have folding mirrors on my Cayenne and never use them. Even when folded they probably only shave 2 inches off the width of the vehicle. I like the Sport Design ones better than the regular mirrors so if I do find myself in a tight spot I can manually fold them.

For the Turbo Wheels: I have the Spyder Wheels on my Cayenne which have lots of little area's and keeping them clean wasn't that big of a deal. I am going to use the C4S as my DD and I am not obsessed with keeping it spotless all the time. Some rim cleaner and pressure washer will make it clean enough for my daily drive. I loved the Turbo Wheels when I build my Cayenne but it was a $7000 upgrade back in 2011 so I didn't bother. Maybe this is the reason I like them so much now on this build. The Carrera Classic's are my second choice but I find I see versions of that wheel on many cars now.

For the Steering Column in Leather: I did think about this option many times, when sitting in the car there ultimately needs to be a breaking point of where the leather ends and the fake plastic textured parts start (like the glove box, lower dash etc) So I figured having the steering column in leather would break up that division line. Then if I went leather steering column I would want the Rear Center Tunnel in leather, and so on...

Premium Package Plus: I actually had this on my build up until 2 weeks ago and pulled it. I felt I would never use the Entry and Drive as I never carry a bag so the keys would be in my pocket anyway. Why not put them in the ignition. Then I saw the LED headlights in person and apart from the cool look of the lighted outer ring I didn't find it much better than the Bi-Xenons. Plus I live in a city where most roads are lit well so the LED's wouldn't benefit me as much. If I lived in the country it would be more of an option for me.

18 Way vs 14 way Seats: I am still up in the air on this, I like the look of the 14 Way seats with the colored back seats, but the 18 way fit better in the showroom. Not sure after a 4 hour drive which I would like more. Any thoughts? I am 6'3" and 195 lbs

I was in the same boat as you. I'm also 6'3. In the end I went with the 18 ways. The main criteria was the added shoulder support. In the 14 way seats, my shoulders were completely outside of the backrest. I owned many cars in my life and learned my lesson the hard way - spend lavishly on high quality seats and do not compromise on comfort.
I'm still waiting for delivery so I cannot comment on how well they worked out.

I test drove C2, C2S and C4S. I preferred the lighter front end feel of the 2WD models. As far as power after driving it for 2 days so far it confirms my test drive, it is already super fast and the power is available right away. For open roads it is quite hard to argue you "need" more. In my test drives between the C2 and the C2S I honestly did not feel the extra power of the C2S. Given it was only a 40 minute test drive for both but on twisty back roads. Reaching the "limit" of the C2 tough to do without maybe going to the track.

I felt the same, the "wings" on the 18 way seats definitely felt much nicer.
