Question for you fine folks. I'm working with a dealer to lock in a PTS slot for a 911 Turbo s. I was told this morning that the earliest slot he could get is slated for May and that the time from building to delivery would be around 120 days, so around 4 months. The 2018 models are supposed to be rolling out in the fall and that build time takes me right up to the fall. Would you guys suggest that I just hold off till the new model year, or go ahead and pull the trigger? Any insight would be most appreciated.

I shouldn't have looked at that. Now I'm already worried about scratches on my car that hasn't even been built yet!

Picking the car up tomorrow 😁

To me it looks stunning in person - easily twice as good as I had expected!

Also I had the little guy with me when I went over, and I sat in the car with him. Little guy made me laugh - immediately grabbed the wheel with both hands and started steering back and forth... and then he found the sport response button and hit it five or six times.

Congrats - You loaded that sucker up! Such an exciting day to finally see your order in the flesh and just in time for the weekend. My kid is the main reason I'm switching to the 911. Having that back seat option is what makes the Turbo so great. Supercar performance for the whole family.

Thanks! I really like the build and got everything I wanted on the car. I was very impressed when I saw it in person! I hope it's the same for everyone. I knew it would be great, but it was genuinely stunning to see in the flesh.

The kid is what got me into a 911 as well. If the toy vehicle can only take the wife and I, since we can't leave the baby at home we'd leave the car instead. No sense in that - I want to drive it all the time!

That's great news!!! I'll have to check with my SA as my dates and ports were almost identical to yours so I hope mine is also ahead of schedule. For the options on pick up I did purchase the maintenance on my current 991. If your going to keep the car for several years it's definitely going to save you a few hundred dollars. However I actually am losing money for doing it as i only have had my current car for 19 months. As for the wheel and tire insurance I did not purchase that last time and I will not this time. I had to replace 1 tire over the last 19 months and 10k miles (nail in the tire). I used to always get the protection on previous cars but have always come out behind.

These add ons sometimes pay off but you have to keep in mind that these programs MAKE money for the company and that's why they are offered. Just my 2c.

If you'll spend a lot of time on the highway you might think about paint protection film (clearbra) for ~$1000-1500 +/-. The more coverage the more the cost. Have them cover entire body panels only if you don't want any seam lines. Only partially covering the hood is the most common source of a large visible seam line.

Most in the US get clear side markers, and I picked up the rubber front floor mats for my area and conditions. Window tint is also pretty common. In a few areas the dealer offered a slick integrated radar detection system but it was expensive.

If you don't want to include the cost in your financing/lease deal you can do any of it on your own. Usually the dealer works with a good local installer/shop and adds a small profit for handling everything. If you are particular about the work or willing to research the best local talent you may as well do it yourself. I asked to see a clearbra installed by their guy and was impressed with the work, so I went ahead. It looks great and I am very pleased.

+1
Maintenance plan - I would consider it as it's predictable thing
Tire/wheel - I would skip

I remember reading a story long time ago where this guy would always opt-out of every protection and warranty offer, but ask how much they cost and put that amount into a separate bank account. He did this for every product he bought whenever he was offered a plan. Over time, he amassed a huge amount of cash that he only used for repairing anything that actually broke. Basically, he was his own insurance company. It paid off for him big time.

PS: My production schedule is only a week behind yours!

My car wash as supposed to arrive on 3-3, I got word today it is on the Hoegh Bangkok and is due to dock in Davisville Rhode Island on 1-27. Dealer said he expects to see it the week of 1-30. Looks like they are ahead of schedule.
