Good deal ?
Without knowing more about the condition, options and location, that seems about right.

Seems like a "fair deal" from what you've shared thus far.

I'm too picky, and lower mileage cars are always in better condition cosmetically.

This one is an amazing deal. If it was certified, it would be one hell of a steal.

It's rare, but you can get a certified 2012.5 C2S with decent options and less than 15K for less than 70K. Just have to keep your eyes very open.

Hi, I did not purchase my P car from Paul Miller - they did not have what I was looking for. I have had it serviced and done other business with them. They are a good dealer, a very nice brand new facility. They have a good selection of pre-ownered and display/take care of everything very well. Dealer ratings are good also. Check them out here.

From my observations the $70-$80K or so 991.1 buyers and listings seem to be very active.

The $90K +++ listings are moving very slowly. Good luck moving a $100K used 991.1 right now.

Anything in the upper end would have to be a GTS.

Thoughts???

There's a beautiful FSBO 2015 C2S white ducktail for sale in the classifieds here on RL. Like 9K miles and $129K MSRP. He's asking $100K. A tough proposition IMO. A tough price point to be at.

Totally agreed.
Nowadays a good deal would be 2014 c2S under 10K around low 80`s.
IMHO FSBO 2015 C2S white will sell quickly if it was 90K.

Default FSBO '15 C2 S

So very true. Weeks ago I offered the seller of the 2015 C2 S /ducktail $92k and in turn he said he would not go below 100K. Think he is somewhere @ $99.9K. Think it is pretty obvious that a car as nice as it is not selling for the asking price is telling you something. I understand the emotional attachment but the numbers are the numbers and the market is what it is.

Another market observation...

Seems like there are tons of interesting deals on 991.1's with significant reductions in price from sticker, both in total $ and percentage. 981's on the other hand, particularly Caymans, seem to be very difficult to find any interesting deals on. I've owned both 911's and Caymans in the past. Both have their strong points and I would consider either, but when looking at used 9x1.1 generation cars, it seems foolish to not just move into a 991 for the often minimal price difference and bigger piece of the depreciation pie already realized.

On the other hand, if I was buying new, I might conclude that Cayman's have much lower first year-or-two depreciation than 911's. I guess that isn't too surprising... Total 911 production in 2015 was about 50% higher than total Cayman/Boxster combined production, so there are simply fewer of them out there. I'll also speculate that far more 911's are purchased by 'one year and done' type buyers than Caymans putting far more on the resale market within a year or two of manufacturer. Another way of saying that a higher percentage of Cayman buyers might be true enthusiasts who plan on keeping their cars for many years, while perhaps a higher percentage of new 911 buyers are merely looking for the next cool car to drive to the golf club or valet park at the steak house... Not all of course! Plenty of true enthusiast new 911 buyers, just speculating it's a smaller percentage of total buyers compared to the Cayman.

I guess one could also argue it's the 991.2 introduction putting the downward price pressure on 991.1's and my enthusiast argument is nonsense... Equally possible I guess. It will be interesting to see if the 981.2 Cayman's are received as enthusiastically by 981.1 owners as the 991.2 cars seem to be received by 991.1 owners. Then maybe we start seeing tons of 981.1 come on the market at great pricing?

Not meant to start a 911 vs Cayman debate, plenty of those already, but merely a market price and depreciation evaluation from a buyer ready to pounce on the right deal on either 9x1.1 model range.

I'd say this is spot-on, which means I also can't imagine the GTS cars staying up above the $110k price range for too long. IMO there isn't a $30-40k difference in value between say a '14 C2S and a GTS but with the range narrowing between the 997.2s and the 991.1s, I think there will be some stabilization of .1 prices.

Anyone been closely following the 997.2 market?? I see them overlapping on the low end of the 991.1's sometimes.

Have they been leveling off and slowing down considerably in depreciation?

One thing I know, those 997.2 GTS's are holding strong. Hard to find a manual in one. Regardless, there aren't many for sale PDK or manual. The production #'s for those must be fairly low during those bad economic years.

Yup. I've also been looking at 997.2's..... Price-wise they just don't seem to make sense unless you really prefer the 9x7 generation to the 9x1 generation. 997.1's are getting cheap, but too many of them are Tiptronic and of course it's the pre-DFI M97 engine which wasn't one of Porsche's finest. Unless you grab a Turbo which are easily as much as a nicely configured, super low mile, still under warranty 991.1 S

I really think the 997.2's and 991.1's will have a nice continued enthusiast following down the road. They should "age" well

All the best deals i've noticed have been for PDK cars. Have manuals been retaining their value better?

I wouldn't say so really. There are just ALOT less of them out there and a reflection of that. Manuals are what, like 10% of all 991.1 production? Somewhere around there.

It seems there are just so few manuals vs PDK, slim pickings out there for sure. I appreciate the feedback about Paul Miller, thank you guys. Does anyone have a contact at Porsche of Conshohocken? Looking to visit them this coming weekend.
