Has anyone figured out what would be the least expensive new android device that works out of the box without issues in terms of compatibility with the ThinkDiag?
I really know nothing about android devices and I don't want to have to start learning about them. I just want something that will be pretty dummy proof with the ThinkDiag.
I'm using my android phone. Wonder how many other's are using Android phones rather than tablets.

I bought the tablet suggested in the beginning of this tread "refurbished" off eBay for about $60 and it works fine.

Also using a Samsung phone I bought used from a coworker, have coded pretty much everything listed in this thread with no issues. This phone is just for car stuff, has software to code and service my X5M as well as the wife’s Q5, works well.
Many Thanks to @bokh , Ken G., Croc 2.0 and everyone who has contributed to this thread! I just received my THINKDIAG unit and with your guidance have completed the 1st two (main items) on my list.
2019 (991.2) Targa 4GTS
Changed Auto Start Stop to "Last State"
Changed One Touch Flashing Cycles (turn signals) from 3 to 5
Just changing the Auto Start Stop to "Last State" was worth the cost of the device, ($80), in my view.
Anybody know if the red tail lights can be reprogrammed to amber?
This is not possible with coding. They are physically different lights. The European (amber) ones will work without coding and without causing any error codes but you'll have to cut off portions from the connectors and the new lights to fit. I got mine from SuncoastParts, they are SKU: SKU991CLEAR.
I was able to find how to set the Sport Chrono dial illumination with Thinkdiag.
You pick the module: Additional Instrument: Watch
Code Brush... then Coding Value
Coding value--PWM_MaxS
It was set at 10 for my car. I set it to FF (FF is 255 in Hexadecimal for all you geeks out there)

It syncs with the rest of the dash illumination.
Tried to do this on my 2017 991.2, and no dice. Funny thing is that I didn't have a menu that said: Additional Instrument: Watch but I did have one that said Additional Instrument: Clock. I also have a coding value PWM_maxS (set at 30) and also a PWM_MaxS 2. When I tried the first one it gave me a write failed error. Not sure what the issue was. Would be great to hear if other's have the same issue or if I'm an oddball.
I know nothing about Android devices. Will something like this do the trick?

This is from page 1 and it’s what I bought. I was able to find an open box unit at Best Buy for around need $100…
Looking through that thread, it shows it as enabling it but what I really want is it to be on all the time.
According to the owner's manual for my car, the car must be traveling greater than 60 kph to enable HBA and it will turn itself off if the car is traveling less than 35 kph. See if you can find the codes that set those parameters so you can reduce those speeds.
So I was able to find the Over Rev Range Report for my 981 Cayman. The menu is slightly different between the 981, 982 & 991.2 models, yet its there!
My question is regarding the reported "Operating hours" . My Over Revs are minor yet they are being reported at 1.3 "h" or hours? That seems really early on in my cars life, and I was very deliberate not to exceed 4200 RPM during the "Break-In" period. So is the reported time really hours? Or a factor like "Hours x 100" .... something like that??
