So, I got in and immediately dug in. Im used to the VW side with VCDS (VAGCOM), so it was easy for me to catch on. Its a shame there's no support for the Porsche stuff, on that. Anyways... I programmed the windows, the coolant curve, a few other odds and ends. But I couldn't get the DRL function to work with the headlights. I could turn the DRL off completely, but not turn on with the headlights. Has anyone run into this?

Also, I've seen the GT3 steering setting, it seems that the GT3 option isnt available for my car? It only shows C2/4, C2S/C4S, and a bunch of other options like, "Top" or "Manufacture defined".

One more thing (I promise). I activated the Expert menu in the cluster. I didn't really dig into the settings and such. What do the different check boxes do? I see it's in German, and I'm sure I could figure it out, given time. I'm not at the car now, I have to work for a living I guess 😂, and didn't have time to fool around with that last night.

I'm in a 2017 GTS, so a .2. I know options and setting are different from the .1 experiences.
Check out the video tlnk that hat explains the expert menu:

With respect translating the items, download google translate on your phone. It allows you to take a picture and it will translate the German to English. In addition to being in German, the values of the displayed items are all metric measurements.

I was also curious as well what could be displayed so here are pictures of the expert menu gauges (as translated by google translate -with a couple done manually by me).

Agreed... or at least specify either .1 or .2 at the top of each post.

991.2

I changed/increased the max boost scale so its not maxed out so quickly.

Instrument Cluster > code/brushing > Rule coding > Further coding > max boost pressure - changed from 1.2 bar (default - 17 psi) to 1.4 bar (20 psi)

Also, for a C4/C4S/GTS, center light bar delete? Putting a gt3 bumper and wing on (:

Thinking out loud here.... Couldn't you have the auto RAISE speed at say 250 MPH and the auto LOWER speed at 1 MPH? That should effectively disable it.

This is how I handled the ducktail on my 991.1. I set the deployment speed threshold parameter to the max value

No need to touch the lower speed parameter

250MPH is not nearly high enough. Don't underestimate how fast you can go with a fixed GT3 wing...

Got mine today and it's a bit confusing to figure out but I think I'm getting the hang of it. So far I have only done the following:
  1. Done:
    1. Oil Level - Show level as four segments in the instrument panel
    2. Windows - Open/Close Windows with key fob
      1. Not sure if you can auto close sunroof or not
  2. Need to try or do:
    1. Performance Display/Torque Display
      1. Already have G Force Menu
    2. Display Accurate Coolant Temperature
    3. Remember Last State of Auto Stop/Start ***
  3. Wish I could change
    1. Auto High Beams without pushing stalk every time

For the uninitiated, what is the "memory module"?

Does ThinkPad allow reset of the maintenance reminders/alerts?

Thanks.

Hello All,

Working on a 991.1S Cab

I got the unit primarily to program the top control from the keyfob and one touch from the switch but I can't get it to work. I was able to change all the values excepts for

"Rear-End Electronics: Coding value-Equipment-Eqipment for convertivle top control equipment available=Yes"

In the instructions I see that this should be "yes" by default but mine says "no" by default and when I try to write "yes" is gives me an error. If I select "no" and then write it succeeds so I'm not sure what is going on.

All the other modifications for the top control did write except for this one. I tried re-starting the car and the app but no dice. I also programmed one touch control from button and all those did write but that is not working either.

Since the description here is "Equipment for convertivle top control equipment available=Yes" I'm thinking that this one if key for both these top control changes (keyfob and one touch) to work so I'm hoping someone has some advise?

I did change the performance/torque display and emergency brake display and those work fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Happy to report that I was able to change Steering software to GT3 (without any error) and also confirmed my DME report (Over Report).

As for steering, it's a very obvious change. It's softer at under 10 MPH, but at normal higher speeds the steering heavier with almost force feedback and very firm through sustained corners. There is nothing about the change that I dont like, I was giggling like a child going through corners (anytime a few clicks result in such a noticeable change , its amazing) Also, at city speeds (20-45) moving steering side to side is also changed and improved, when doing slalom like movement the steering almost wants to return to center on its own.

Thank you to all who have contributed to this thread and I thank @AdamSanta85 for his PM and direction.

Was the change to GT3 steering software made with a PIWIS or a Thinkdiag? Either way, is it possible to share the coding changes that were made to accomplish this?

When I did this mod I get a steering limited message on the cluster and when i dismiss it I get a yellow steering wheel on the display. Did you have that issue?

it is my understanding that early 991 cars aren’t able to make this change with thinkdiag+.
could be a software difference between early 991.1 and later 991.1 cars
I know for a fact that the steering on both of my 991.1GTs (2015 and 2016) feels very different from my model year 2012 991.1carrera S.
I am also told that the warning and yellow light means GT3 software change did not take place and instead it some sort of failsafe.
hope this helps.
