991 pricing is out of control right now

You can't catch a fish without a hook in the water. What you perceive as a "Low Ball" offer may the right offer for someone who needs to sell a car for $X today vs. $X + 15% tomorrow. On the other hand getting a "deal" and getting exactly what you want are almost always mutually incompatible. Paid "too much" for the last car I bought because I realized I was going to be miserable if I didn't buy it (Gen 1 Boxster Spyder). Life is short.

My daily driver is the same, X3 M Comp and I'm about to get some All Season Pilot Sports to improve the ride and for light winter driving. I had 4 of the OEM tires replaced in the first 1000 miles from nails.

Spoke with my SA when referring a friend searching for a 992 allocation. He mentioned a few CPO 991’s available, so I asked about some of the pricing... He stated the high demand for limited 992 allocations + the lack of inventory country wide; due to covid, has led to prices inflating on the pre-owned 911 market. Makes sense, but now my friend is considering a CPO 991 on the lot. The market is just silly high right now.

In 10-15 years time, any pure ICE 911 is going to be sought after 🤣

Look at the Boxster/Cayman market for MANUAL + no electric stuff prices. A 996 used to be like 15K for a pretty good one - now pushing 30k! Oh, remember when a 914-6 was a 3k disposable, throw away car?

Three Wheelin'
a few trillion here, a few trillion there, pretty soon you're talking real money.
in 10-15 years these things will either be multi-hundred thousand dollar cars or completely worthless because the FED went too far and killed the golden goose.
(in that case, though, you can head on over to the AR-15 forms to see what those babies are appreciating at. lol)

Call all of us biased, but I think 996/997/991 are going to be considered "driver centric" cars. Jury is out on the 992, but I suspect ICE (not to mention availability of a manual gearbox) will keep it in there. As for 991 pricing, market stuff is among the least interesting aspects of cars to me (other than when it actually comes time to buy or sell, of course…), but there are a lot of things going on:
- Availability of 992
- 991.1 production numbers for certain/desirable models
- 991.2 production numbers for certain/desirable models
- 997.2 production numbers for certain/desirable models (consider 2009-2011 economy)
- 996/997.1 are now 12- to 22-year-old cars
- Pricing of 992 vs 991 (looks like about a $20-30k jump over 991.2 pricing for a 992 in a desirable spec…to me)
- Contrarian response to Covid (maybe I won't live forever/if I can't spend my money on travel or food or events/driving is Covid safe/etc)
- Financial markets/rates/etc

Everything, even PDK parts, will be readily available as FRU’s. Life will be good!
