I seriously am thinking I might stop shopping.

In the past few months I've been looking everyday and have noticed prices going up and up and now finding that 2013-2014 991.1 S cars going for $70k to even MID $70s! It's absolutely stupid.

I'm even looking for convertibles in the winter and they are still that price, it makes zero sense. A few months ago while shopping (but not buying) I noticed a lot more cars in the mid $60's and rarely in the $70's. Thought that winter would keep prices down but damn.........

991.1 S pricing is about the same as base 991.2 cars, seems the 991.2 cars are a much better buy.

Yep in the same boat. I found a car I really like, but I just can't get myself to overpay. It's a matter of principal at this point, I've got the cash ready to go but don't want to throw away 5-10k just because.

Yeah, I'm a few weeks away from buying and it's getting pretty upsetting to see what people are asking. Not sure what's selling or not though, because it's only gotten this bad in the past month or so.

I mean I get the whole car is worth what people are willing to pay argument, but the thing is, these cars I'm looking at aren't selling. I'm not one to go in and low ball, even though it's not really a low ball lol. Oh well, I'm in no rush. Good luck out there.

Hopefully, the used car market in general will correct in a few more months. I'm interested in more of a high mileage 991 and even those are through the roof with very short build sheets.
I plan on giving myself six months to see what happens and also to save a bit more to consider a higher budget.

On the flip side, I just sold my 981 for 15% more than I paid for it a year ago. I consider that a win and it makes the wait a little more palatable.

Def a seller's market. Sold one of my homes, and made an absolute killing. So I guess it's only fitting the Porsche market would follow suit.

Especially hot market in norcal and NV I'm assuming based on how tech/stock market is doing in general, even during non pandemic times I ended up buying my car from the midwest as CA prices are out of wack.

Federal Reserve has flooded the world with dollars (look at M1/M2) and that money's gotta go somewhere.

I got my 991.2 TT right around April before the craziness began so I count myself lucky.

I sold my Corvette C7 as the prices on those were appreciating as well. It went up almost $10K.

Same in Europe. It took me about 3 months to finalize a deal for a pre-owned 991.2 Carrera T from Stuttgart factory dealer, 25k km and in as new condition with 12 months warranty. I reserved the car in middle August 2020 and for the next 3 months i was just a spectator in the local leasing company - Porsche dealer contract signing. Unimaginable issues, contract clauses in an out, translations from German to Romanian, leasing company didn't want to pay for the Porsche approved warranty and I had to pay for it, wrong invoices sent, VAT deposit as a warranty before the car was delivered, every week was a different issue that had to be resolved etc. The car was delivered at the end of November 2020.

But in these 3 months I was browsing every day the certified preowned listings on Porsche website, just German dealers network, thinking that maybe a better deal or a better car will pop and I immediately make a switch. Believe me, nothing, at the end the car that I got was the best buy. Now it will be 6 months since I reserved the car, and still nothing. There is a similar one, 4 months older than mine, but with 7k km on the clock (mine has 25k) and its 15k euros more expensive. And the cheapest 991.2 base model Carrera is about 4k cheaper and doesnt have VAT deductible (thats about 12k euros deductible). So I believe its because 992 is still not so appealing to 991.2 owners to make a trade-in yet, probably the prices will drop when the people will do that and the market will have more offers. I was thinking to do that when the 992 prices will get at the current 991.2 values.

I dont know the private seller market situtation, because it was financed and it had to be maximum 2 years old dealer car with warranty, but I presume it was the same.

991.1 cars are the same as 991.2 because it is likely the last of the na non gt Carreras. Supply and demand. With our government pumping out money left in right everything is over inflating (stocks real estate ect)

I recently started looking on PorschNA at 991.x S models and noticed very few 991.1 SC’s for sale (aware of Stop Sale) but found it interesting that even the .2’s I was liking have no SC. As for those available the pricing of the .1 S are still $10-20k less that a .2 Base.
