991 pricing is out of control right now

There is no supply issue in the pnw. There are a **** ton of cars for sale and they're not selling. Now granted certain specs are more desirable than others but the supply is not an issue. Just get on Autotrader or CL and take a look. Tons of cars for sale, and the prices are still ridiculous. I get its a capitalist market, and more power to those making money. I guess it's more dealerships than anything where I'm seeing the issue. The private party supply is low though, I'll admit that.

Found 2014 Carrera S for sale on FB Market place with 70k miles. Guy is willing to let it go for 50k. It's just slightly above my budget and it's PDK (not manual), but definitely one of the best priced S's I've seen as of yet.
What do you guys think? https://vinanalytics.com/car/WP0AB2A92ES120112/

Must haves for me:
Sports Chrono
Cab
Ventilated Seats
Doesnt have to be PDK or manual but manual would be awesome.
Also important but won’t break a deal:
PSE
Sports Wheel for 991.1 (paddles for pdk)
Will be buying in February but have been looking like mad to see if many come up.
Private Party is preferred for me as NV doesn’t have sales tax on PP purchases but looking at CPO cars from dealers too but SC stop sale screwed that one up.
Paying $70k + for an early model mid to higher mileage 991.1 S is not going to happen, way overpriced and that’s what’s been showing up lately. Perfect for me would be a 17 C2 or even C4 Cab with all the options for $75k-$80k with warranty still available.
Or a 991.1 4S with all those options might keep me away from a 991.2. OR......... I’m fairly open but overpaying is the thing I can’t get over.

Sorry, this was intended to be a reply to jfisschet's question. I'm a NOOB to this site. This is a great thread, and I'm not trying to threadjack it (sorry).
I'll start by saying the GTS is an AWESOME car, I absolutely LOVE it! I was looking for a GT3Touring, and happened to find a 911R for a very reasonable price in April, so I bought it. I have put well over 1000 miles on the car since, and I plan to put around the same every year. They are very different cars in the following ways:
The R is way more raw, way faster, louder (especially in the cockpit), stops better (PCCB), and drives smaller (if that makes sense). The GTS feels like a luxury coupe as compared to the R.
Transmission: 6 vs 7 speed. The feel of the 6 speed transmission is very different from the 7 in the GTS. When I only had the GTS, I often wished for a 6 speed tranny. The gears are longer and engage in a much more committed way, if that makes sense. The shifter snaps/locks into place as compared to sliding/gliding into place of the GTS. The 7 speed transmission in the GTS seems like an afterthought as an MT as compared to the R transmission.
Clutch: The single mass lightweight flywheel clutch in the R spools and engages like a rocket, as compared to the GTS. It also has a really loud gravely sound when in neutral at idol. This is a big difference.
The 911R is flat out loud in the cabin when running at a reasonable RPM (3K+). Remember, lots of noise dampening was removed from the car, plus it revs up to 9k, vs 7.5K. . The R just feels lighter, louder, faster, snappier, more engaged, and way more raw as compared to the GTS. I cannot compare either to a GT3, but I hope to change that soon. Anyway, hope this helps.
Just a quick review because you asked. Feel free to PM me for more information. Again, both are awesome cars, just very different. I feel very fortunate to own both cars
Thanks,
Phil

No, I wish I could comment but I cannot. I would love to buy a nice GT3T. My 99.1 experience is only with the GTS MT and R. My goal was always to buy a 911R, GT3T, GTS, in that order. The only GT3T I liked was $20k less than what I paid for the R. Again, I know they're all great.
Very cool to hear about the 991's values. I wish all of you luck who are looking to find one now. If it's a little higher priced than you would like, go for it, especially if you are looking to own for the long haul. I'm sure you will be happy. Otherwise, try to time your purchase like the stock market
Thanks,
Phil

Spot on...........gov't has printed and pumped several trillion $$$s into the economy. Everything is going up in price. Just sold my R8 for more than i paid for it 3 years ago. Was lucky enough to negotiate a great deal on 991.1 turbo on Dec 31st with a motivated Porsche dealer.

I'd love to take the R on a road trip in Socal, but I'm pretty far from you! I live in Asheville NC, and if you ever find yourself out this way, let me know. I think it would be really cool to check out your GT3T!

Its only going to get worse with trillions more in stimulus on the way. More than 20% of all USD in existence was created out of thin air in 2020. Inflation isn't showing up in CPI yet, but it is absolutely showing up in premium products as others have pointed out. Sports cars, nice watches, beach houses, fine art etc. all exploding in price. This will eventually make its way into normal everyday products as well, and its going to be very painful for lots of people. It would not surprise me if USD loses 10% of its purchasing power each year for the next few years.
If you want a 911 and have the cash available, I would probably go ahead and pull the trigger now.

60 mo and 72 mo rates are so low that people are willing to borrow more. When 72 mo rates are within half a percent of 60 mo, it entices people to spend more.
That’s inflated the prices out there but it’s also made it a good time to buy since your payments are the same as they would have been when prices weren’t inflated as much.
