Intelligent response! 🙄
It is not an ignorant statement if you know a bunch of other wealthy people who intentionally chose NOT not to buy a 992 when there was plenty of supply last Summer and instead bought a 991.2. Today’s pandemic-related shortage of new cars is completely unrelated to that prior decision point. Though technologically more advanced, the 992 just leaves a lot of folks feeling underwhelmed regarding what the expect from traditional 911 design aesthetics. You may feel differently, but you certainly don’t speak for the entire 911 community, and thank goodness for that!

Bought a 2018 991.2 4s with only 15k KM for $120k last year. Was pretty hard to find one. Today they go for at least 130k usd, in the nordics. Trying to find one today is almost impossible here too.
For me personally I chose to go for 991.2 instead of 992 due to the high tax and high insurance on the 992. Money isn't a problem for me but just didn't make sense. The difference is quiet significant. Tax on 991 is $200 per year compared to $1500. Insurance is $2000 per year compared to $4000. Had a 991.1 so going from NA to turbo then I rather go with 991.2. Plus I like the looks of it more and it sounds slightly more/better. Ofc not comparable with the 991.1.

Prices may seem crazy because they are going up very quickly, likely due to massive supply shortages, but also because a lot of folks just don’t like the 992s for whatever reason. Will eventual increased supply of new 992s drive down prices of 991s, probably not. The rapid shift towards EVs, the declining U.S. Dollar, and the recent huge spike in inflation will probably make these current used 911 prices seem like a real bargain a year from now, especially if the economic recovery continues to roll on.
With that said, I was kind of thrown for a loop when I did a recent search of exact year/mileage 991.2 C4S Cabriolets similar to mine. There were only 7 vehicles listed on Cars.com in the entire country, and I guess this is just the new (elevated) market for them. At these prices, I’m almost considering whether I should just sell my own (pictured) since I have other cars. It is certainly a hell of a lot better equipped than the ones shown in the Cars.com listings, that is for damn sure!
Hell, I’d take $135k in a heartbeat!

Case in point, the 992 GT3 is undoubtedly better performing than the prior generation, but in some people’s eyes, it’s lost the charm of 991.2 GT3 design. Not a knock on the car, just not universally loved…yet. One can also take the same position on the new BMW M3/M4 versus the prior generation. Coincidentally, the price of the F80/F82 has firmed up too when the new buck-toothed grill was revealed. Again, just personal preference.

Sorry, I but did not see anybody saying sales volume of 991.2s was better than 992s, just that some people don’t really like the look of the new 992 rear end as much, nor the cold-looking updated interior. Personally, I couldn’t warm up to the 992 last June, so I went with the 991.2. Price really wasn’t a factor, just getting the look I prefer. Undoubtedly, a personal choice, but one that some folks are making, and it is not always an economic one.

I have to agree with you... from a purely aesthetic point of view... I prefer the 991.2 to the 992 all day long. That said, from a technological point of view, clearly the cars just keep getting better with every generation. Right now, good luck finding ANY 991 for a reasonable price...

Not so fast. Check out the 2022 Nissan Frontier. Nice truck. I am looking to replace my Canyon in the near future and leaning towards the Nissan. Never owned one but I am liking what I’ve seen so far. And the 991.2T is the sweet spot by the way.....🤣🤣

Frontier? I had you airline pilots pegged for a King Ranch F350 Powerstroke given the price of those DeltaOne tickets on your BCN flight!
