Anyone else receive a similar email?
Yes...We kept getting mail on the '19 4Runner LTD. Made a deal on a '21 LTD at less than my monthly on the present one (not built yet in Japan. Gave me the correct VIN for the vehicle with the promise of a six week delivery).....I think that many companies are doing it right now.
Then realized that we still had coverage for at least the next 3 yrs. and out to 100K miles on my '19.
Still using that same motor and the same inefficient five speed auto. No sense adding to two more yrs. to the monthly for the same vehicle, so we will be holding on to it.

On the Porsche dealer situation.... The "50" needed replacement gas struts for the rear deck. Went to pick them up. Nothing on the floor but "used" 911's. There were also a few new Chayanne's and at least a half dozen Tycan's, including a TURBO. BTW, how do they hook up that turbo and what does it do???...Just kidding!

It's crazy what these cars cost now. I paid less for my 7MT 130k spec C2S with 20k miles CPO almost 5 years ago for 82k in LA.

if you take inflation into account that’s like 90k today. So pretty much in line

Yeah, but zero depreciation (and in reality, appreciation) is pretty nuts for a car as new as a 991.1. Shows the state of the market.

I test drove the 992 and I fell in love with it. The front end grip and the steering are a big step up compared to the 991.2 (which I also test drove) in my opinion. To be honest, I did not expect to like the 992 that much.

Another friend (997.2 GT3 owner) also test drove the 992 and we both agree the handling and steering of the 992 are very good.

Best piece of advice I have is go test drive the 992 and make a judgment for yourself.

Stay on track all - this thread is about 991 prices and not 992s...there are so many love/hate threads about the 992 already.

I agree and it's comical; you aren't going to notice anymore "front end grip" on the 992 comparison unless you are on track..... similiar argument when people claim the sunroof "adds too much weight" argued by people who never track their cars and bring paint meters with them to cars and coffee......

So, as a data point of how out of control things are not just with regard to pricing, I check new listings probably too often. 991.1 S cab listed in the afternoon, I contacted the seller within a few hours of it going up only to be told it sold. It's like the housing market...took me 9 months to get an offer accepted on a house, and it's trending that way for a 991! I've honestly lost count of how many cars I've struck out on, and I think I move really quick and don't kick tires/negotiate price.

Well, sold my car in less than 2 hours of listing. The thing is great car don’t come very often and if you looking for that one special car don’t let a few grands get in the way. You can settle with a lesser car but are you really happy with it.

BUT 5 model years have passed since then. Cars of this type/age don't typically depreciate ZERO. Yes there are exceptions, like other 911's LOL

Unfortunately if you’re looking for a really good car, and it’s priced appropriately for the current market, as the poster above attested, it’s going to be gone in less than two hours.

I just managed to find my perfect spec dream car, and the only reason it’s in my garage is because it appeared overnight on one of the 15 websites I was checking at least hourly, the dealer was 10 minutes from my house, opened at 9am and I was there at 8:55am, and I didn’t negotiate on price. By the time I got home with it, something like 15 people had saved it as a favorite - and I’m sure many of them called the dealer that day, even while I was still there, ready and willing to pay full ask because it was priced reasonably.

It takes a tremendous amount of dedication, patience and luck to get the car you want. I easily spent at least an hour a day searching for eight months. There were many times that I almost threw in the towel - but in the end it was worth the effort!

I'm just speaking for myself, but I think the transition to turbos / automatic transmissions / electrification across all cars has been accelerating. To me, that made the 991.1 w/ manual my target purchase and I suspect it's similar for many others.
