991 pricing is out of control right now

Inflation is 3.0% last month.....
Expect prices to rice, and inventory to remain low all year due to Microprocessors on new 992's.
Porsche just raised 992 pricing $2,000 due to increase commodity cost.

I had no idea availability was quite as bad as it appears to be.
Just checked my local dealer and they have zero new and zero used 911 in stock. Normally in May they have a sea of cars lined up at the front of the dealership.
Checked Main line in PA as they normally have dozens of cars to choose from new and used - they have 1 new and 2 used.
Wow.

They are fighting for scraps these days.

Looking for that Unicorn 991.1 S
I got mine!!!! No Sport Chrono....were I still looking, I'd be checking Mannheim Auctions. Not open to the public....so you'll have to figure out how to gain access. I have a friend whose local dealer gave him his password....this stop sell is a boon for private sellers and for non-Porsche dealerships.

It is driving up prices at the high end and for everything upscale like the 911. Not a difficult concept. Upscale real estate is going through the roof. People are paying millions for NFT (look it up) Digital Collectibles. 911 supply is one thing. People flush with investment wealth is like adding a turbo..
I think to put a cap on it, you're basically proving everyone's point. Let's just agree that you CAN get more money for your luxury items for the reasons you claim (because STONKS)- but that would just give you more money to buy what? OH, probably other inflated luxury items. The net-net doesn't change.
You have more money but things cost more.
Now, back to discussing interesting things like cars...

Just stop, this isn't economics class so reducing this conversation to investments speculation is a waste of everyone's thought cycles. Keep in mind I'm not disagreeing with you, it's just not worth talking about at length in this context.

Inflation of cars is also a little sad. I really wanted a clean AP2 Honda S200 a few years ago but the prices for the condition car I was looking for overlapped with 987.2's! I was a huge fane of the BMW Z3 M variants and remember when S54 coupes were going for 70K - crazy. The point is that it's good when car's become wanted so the support remains strong for parts but also sad that they stop being enjoyed as cars and people that would drive them don't either because they can't afford them or don't want to in order to preserve the value.

You know things are scarce when CarMax can't even get one car in it's nationwide inventory.
The 991 market has always been expected to appreciate after the end of its depreciation curve. It just arrived sooner and at a higher velocity

Burning Brakes
I've been pondering this myself recently. A few good ones (reliable/sporty and not too old) under $50k include the Civic Type R (looks aside, the car is an absolute blast to throw into corners), Golf R (more fun than you'd think), Miata (always fun), New Supra lightly used (very tunable), Chevy SS (with LS3, though these are going up and up now especially with manual), Veloster N (never driven one but hear good things).
There are just so many good cars right now that are priced well above where they should be in today's market.

I would add base 981 with a manual to that list. Amazing value and a driver's car (not for red light Grand Prix Fans)

I have a 19golf R and
May trade for the new 400Z. Not as practical as the R but a lot better looking. Plus japanese cost of ownership is almost free.

This is truly crazy market that car doesn’t last 1 hour in inventory!

Edit: Speaking of Japanese cars, the new BRZ and Toyota 86 look great too (the new releases have really gone under the radar, and I loved my old BRZ tuned and running on E85 to help the torque output).
