Yep, I also saw it. Crazy money.

Hey guys, did you know that the stock market is out of control right now, and it's making pretty much every luxury item cost more because rich people don't know what to do with all the money they have just literally lying around?

It's crazy.

Here's a quick read that seems to validate things.

that is an interesting article about some of the factors driving up used car prices in general.

once production comes back to 100%, you can imagine prices for regular cars coming back down. i think we'll see prices for 991s soften a bit but not drop back to where they were because few owners _have_ to sell.
no one wants to take a large loss and they're such great cars so people just hang on to them.

I think depreciation will start to set back in once the market returns to normal. People that did not buy during the bubble will be looking to trade-up or buy new and the market will provide the pricing. Time will tell.

Well, for those who seem to give up and check other brands, here is a car that may become collectible in the near future

clearly no one can predict the future but don't you think a ratcheting up effect is more likely to take place in cars like the 991 versus an econobox?

It is hard to tell. With some sports cars like Ferraris and even the Air Cooled 911s, prices went down after a bubble burst. Granted, did they return to pre-bubble levels? Probably not.

Crazy. No depreciation.

Honestly, unless an absolute unicorn pops up (BRG cab that isn't a $400k Speedster), I'm probably out of the market for now. There are a few private sellers that have more reasonable listings, but those pop up only rarely. I just don't see the point at these prices. Though I want a 2+2, may as well just build a BGTS 4.0.

Same here! Anyone want a very nice 2018 9k miles Carrera T, 7MT, slick-top, LWBS, T interior, bose, etc. in GT silver for $112k (msrp was $117,xxxk)?

Only slightly joking, I love my car... but everyone has a price.

if you posted this 3 weeks ago I actually might have considered it at that price with low miles. it is exactly how I would have spec'd one.... a T was a possible 2nd choice for me if I couldn't find a .1 GTS which I ended up finally finding private party. The market is absolutely bananas right now..... I'm seeing comps to my cars listed by dealers at 25-50% more than I paid.

Wow, and I probably would have accepted! I agree the market is going wild, I love the car so I wouldn't sell unless the offer was outlandish (like my suggestion) - but, my fear is that I would never find another one this good again. The T is amazing.

Congrats on the GTS!

I was just offered a 2019 Targa 991.2 GTS with 3400 miles on it. The car had a sticker of a little over $165K. Dealer was offering it to me at $172K CPO'd
