if you're just comparing numbers a Ring time is a lot more useful than just 0-60 or HP metrics thrown around... especially considering launch control is what's getting those 0-60 times.

(i think i remember the 991.1S Ring lap was quicker than the 997.2GTS)

The 991.1S ring lap was faster than a 997.2 GT3!

The 992S is faster than a 991.2 GT3. This is in the hands of perfect drivers of course and not something any of us can replicate

We're talking about the best verified times of professional drivers who know the course. I'm not even sure THEY can replicate it!

Interesting that the March 2020 recall on emissions control valve may have triggered the scrutiny and unleashed the class action "watchdogs" and their personal enrichment strategies.

My car had this action performed, as I was throwing codes regularly for a small leak just as the US emissions warranty was expiring (8 years)

So funny the guy decided to sue for getting too much performance for his dollar. Does anyone not realize that how you drive a car determines real world fuel economy?? My car can get over 20mpg if want it to.

This will be a fun ride to experience. No charge for the P-car international drama - for sure Netflix expose' in the works!

Apparently most people and all those in the government that work on regulations.

In the event that it is, in fact, the Sport Plus mode that does not meet emissions regulations, I suppose one (neutering) solution would be to disable Sport Plus in the affected 991.1 vehicles. A poll on how many 991.1 owners actually use Sport Plus may be in order. I use it once in a blue moon while in manual mode but I do not need it. It would not be the end of the world (for me) if that mode were disabled, although I would expect some sort of compensation from Porsche for the loss of some of the car's functionality.

Congratulations. The lawyers heart you.

The other option would be to just keep not using it.

First I've heard of any recalls for the .1, or are you referring to the fuel tank leakage diagnostic module campaign?

Do cars without Sport Chrono have a Sport Plus mode?

You're proposing a pretty extreme option here. In practice, for close to 5 years of ownership I used S+ for 2 parade laps around a track and never allowed redline. I don't track at all and have never used launch control.

I will preempt all track rats and traffic light racers and readily admit that it is my loss on both counts.

In principle, I will not accept the permanent loss of Sport Plus. It is the dual road/track nature of the car that attracted us to it in the first place.
As far as I'm concerned you're taking half of the car away from me so if it must happen, $50% of FMV on the table, bitte!

That and the Heat shield (see the thread below). These were service bulletins - not recall.

Not sure I’m following the logic of private owners suing Porsche to remove an option from their own car, and then demanding payment for the loss of value related to the feature. If using the feature doesn’t give you the mileage you want, then don’t use the feature.

”Doc, it hurts when I do this!”

”Then stop doing that.”
